Aside from the wait (which they cant really do much about) our experience was amazing, we were looked after so well! Good luck! X
Both my planned at city i was first down. My son was born 9:26am. 3 years later my daughter 9:21am. Both very textbook and low risk, home with both the next day xx
If you have any risks/medical you will get priority. I was asked to go at 7. I had a few risk factors so was first in. I was in theatre by 8.30am. The lady who was second didn’t go to theatre till late afternoon 3-4 ish even though she had twins cause there were 4 emergency sections after me. So I would say if you have no complications you could be waiting a while. The c section itself was great. Best of luck!
I had a planned section in July. By 9 a doctor had come around and checked stats and spoken to us about the procedure. They then start the sections, prioritising those with medical needs, and any emergencies coming through from the labour ward. You won't know when you're likely to go down until they come to take you to theatre! We were originally booked in for the Tuesday but ended up being sent home in the afternoon as they were so busy and understaffed, but I think that was a particularly bad day. On the Thursday we went back in. I think the earliest planned sections got taken down around 9.30am, we were taken down at 3pm, we were third to go of the planned sections, and had no medical reasons other than having had an emergency section with first baby. Go prepared to wait a while and not know when you'll be seen! And I had no idea we might not actually be seen on the day we were booked for, it was very demoralising, so may be helpful to know it could happen so you're not unprepared.
