Planned C section instead of induction

@Jessica thanks for sharing Jessica! I’ve spoken to some and they say “wait until you can” which I am fine with but I know it’s not very possible to arrange a last minute C section so I feel much more comfortable with a later c section than last minute induction!
So I was told I can't go past 39 weeks because I have gestational diabetes and high blood pressure and the baby is really big. I was only diagnosed with both of these things at 38 weeks though! The obstetrician tried to talk me into being induced but I refused so they allowed me to choose a c section instead. I think it's important to remember that this is your body and your choice and don't be bullied into anything. Always ask for other alternatives because there will always be one, and when unsure ask for a bit more time to think about it. My c section is on Tuesday so hoping I don't go into labour spontaneously before then! Good luck!
@Zeynep yeh, defo advise waiting to see if things happen on their own, if you haven't got any medical reason or historical birth experience :). No one can for an induction on you.
I actually asked for an elective C-section over and declined an induction because I didn’t want to end up with a forceps intervention. I do also have Gestational Diabetes and baby is measuring at 9lb on last scan but the consultant was happy to give me a date of 3rd which is 2 days before baby’s due date. They went through the risks and benefits at length but said it was my choice and they were happy to get it booked x
If there are no concerns for yours or your baby's health, why not just let the baby come when they're ready? The NICE guideline for induction at 41 weeks is outdated and not based on current research. I've decided on a c section over induction if needed. Ive said I won't have an induction under any circumstances
I had emergency section with my first, I’m hoping to go into labour naturally but have a section booked for 41 weeks if not, refused induction completely, lowers my chance for successful Vbac and 2 friends recently had been induced, one was days in hospital ended in emergency section and the other again laboured for days did get a vaginal birth but overall a horrible experience! Have heard positive induction story’s also! Just for me personally xx
I have. My first was born via emergency C-section after failing to progress during 1st stage, after inductions. So this time I've planned a section if things don't progress naturally at 39 weeks :). Id rather a section over induction!
