I had a really bad experience with another consultant laughing at me when I told him I was having intrusive thoughts about my baby not breathing instead of just telling me the risks he was absolutely horrible! So now I’m even more worried but hoping a mental health consultant will be a bit more understanding. I was induced with my second but I’m so worried I just really want a controlled environment x
Honestly when I had a consultation with the mental health consultant when I requested a section with my first it was so much easier than the conversation with the consultant that kept trying to talk me out of one. I think the mental health team just need to check that it’s what you really want and not being influenced on the decision
@Melissa at what gestation did they give you a date for? X
My first was born in September which is one of the busiest months to give birth so they gave me my due date as it’s the first appointment they had. In the end I actually had to be induced at 39 weeks due to blood pressure which then resulted in a cat 1 section anyway so my boy was born 39+2. I do regret listening to the advice of induction because I have a lot of trauma still from it
No they were going to schedule a section at 40 weeks but because of my blood pressure they swapped to an induction at 39 weeks instead which results in a section due to baby losing heartbeat
Ahhh okay thank you, I’m due in February so I’m hoping they’ll schedule for 39 weeks but I’m not hopeful, my mental health took a huge decline with my second at around 37 weeks and I was really struggling but didn’t get any help until my midwife FINALLY referred me to perinatal mental health! This time around I’m flagged up for mental health and have had helpi from the start so I’m hoping this helps in my favour x
They won’t do a section unless medical necessary before 39 weeks, I would say on average it’s 39weeks at earliest for a section. I’m going for an elective section this time and I’m also high risk for pre-eclampsia and so I’m basing it between 39&40 weeks potentially until I get date from consultant
Ahh okay thank you, I am under a consultant for my mental health and perinatal mental health midwife this time around and was induced due to this with my 2nd at 39 weeks, so hoping to get a date at my 24 weeks appointment in November, hope all goes smoothly for you!
It's your choice! I was induced and after 2 pessarys failing, they wanted to try break my waters and let labour happen naturally or start the hormonal drip but I wasn't happy with that so opted for a C-section! They run through the risks and why etc but they never argued or tried to persuade me otherwise x
