@Kelsey hope you don’t mind me asking, but how long are you on the operating table for in total? I’m terrified at the thought of a c section and what happens if I have a panic attack.
I had a lovely c section experienced the team were fantastic I met everyone beforehand they explained what would happen and the anesthetist were the best people they kept me calm talked me through every single step of what they were doing and assured me about everything and told me to let them know anything I felt. Eg sickness or anything etc. The procedure took maybe 45 mins I was in theatre for about an hour including prep time. X
As Kelsey said, section itself is so quick and you won’t feel any pain, my baby was out within 3min and I didn’t even realised they started until I heard little cry 🥰 also they stitch you back up super quick too, so the whole thing maybe lasted like 15min and once the baby is out they pass it over it to you start taking pics etc. honestly don’t be scared, also they keep the atmosphere super light and friendly, there’s lots of people around and you can request music on….it’s the recovery that’s really hard so make sure to stock up on painkillers 💊
It’s absolutely fine! I was only in for about an hour but once babies out which only takes like 10 minutes time just flies. You won’t notice the time once you have your baby. You can feel a little sick because of the anaesthetic but nothing else. The staff were so nice and held my hand when they did the spinal block. X
@Kelsey how did your c section take 15 minutes please?!?! That’s crazy!! X
If it’s an elective I’m pretty sure you can choose music to play so if you’ve got some music you especially like or will keep you calm maybe make a playlist? I had an emergency and like everyone has said it’s over super quick and I was a little out of it cause of gas and air I guess I had a student midwife who sat with me after my partner went with baby and she spoke to me so you could always ask if someone can come and sit with you when your partner goes if that could help? You’re so close to having your little one all the luck in the world to you!
Once the spinal hit baby was out in no time, then they sewed me back up ☺️ probably took 45 minutes total but the getting the baby out was so quick. There is people monitoring both you and baby and are making sure you’re okay with everything you’ll be well looked after no matter what happens
@Olivia I had an emergency and they asked if we wanted music. Think it depends on the hospital
I had emergency c section was petrified went in wasn't even as bad as I thought... went quickly and its more the time after the op that hurts the healing part xx but you got this ❤️
You’ll be absolutely fine! My c section went very smoothly. They’ll give you a couple of meds to take first, like a dissolvable tablet for reflux. Then the surgeons will come and talk you through the procedure, give you a cannula for meds, and do a final ultrasound. You’ll be made to feel very safe and in good care. They’ll give you a spinal to make you feel numb from the waist down and the procedure itself will be around just over an hour. My tips? Let them know that you feel nervous about it., because they will do everything they can to make you feel incredibly safe and calm. One of the nurses held my hands and whispered reassuring things to me whilst I was having my spinal. Also take your phone in with the music playlist because they’ll likely have a Bluetooth speaker there and you can play your music during your procedure! 😄
Mine was an emergency c section and despite me bricking it the whole time it was a very calm experience. Once the blue screen went up she was out in seconds. I waited a while after to then see her as they had to check her over. It took maybe 30 minutes to sew me up
I had mine late July after previously having a traumatic natural birth. It was such a better experience in comparison, everything was so quick, we had nice music playing. When the spinal kicked in I felt so relaxed all throughout my body, which sort of made me feel that way too. I said to my husband that I didn’t think they had started yet, and then they dropped the curtain to show me my beautiful baby coming out. Once they are out and on your chest you forget you are even being stitched back together and suddenly they are wheeling you out! For me it was so surreal to have a baby with no pain. I’m still recovering from the surgery, but that has still been easier than it was after my natural birth last time! X
I had a c section on the 4th September at 37+3 and I was also terrified as never had any surgery before. The team were so positive, reassuring and calm which really helped as I explained to them I was really anxious about it. The procedure itself was absolutely pain free, the build up to it was the worst past! Once you’re in there and epidural done you will feel a lot more comfortable. I do not regret having the C-section at all and it was a really positive and calm experience. They may let you play some music or the radio and take your phone in with you for photos / videos. Wishing you all the best for tomorrow ☺️ x
i remember when i was pregnant someone saying to me. the baby has to come out and there isnt anything your worry can do about that. Maybe try make some plans for after the baby is born. people to visit or snacks you would like to eat and focus on that point x

My elective was amazing, the team was amazing and even though I was really scared, I focused on the fact that we were meeting my son ❤️ everything was explained amazingly
It’ll be so quick it’ll be a memory before you know it! I went in for mine at 11 baby was out by 11:15, there is a whole team to look after you and another to look after baby so honestly you have nothing to worry about ☺️ you’ve got this momma 🥰
