Wishing you luck! I have multiple friends who’ve had c sections and each one has a different story. For some of them, the recovery is a breeze and they liked the process. Others struggled since their bodies healed slower. I think it’s similar to pregnancy, you don’t know how your body will react. Stay positive and you’ll meet your baby soon ✨
I’m about to have my third csection soon. I lost the weight with both of my prior csections. Milk production will come in, just have to be patient. The recovery can be hard at times but it’s not too bad. Just give yourself grace and don’t push too hard! Like said above, the hospital will provide you with what you need after a Csection. After the hospital, just make sure to wear things that go above the csection scar, that’ll make life so much easier!
I had an emergency c-section with my first and I had the same worries as you. I didn’t educate myself on the process at all because I was so focused on a vaginal birth. However, it was not horrible. Recovery is tough but as long as you have help and keep up with your meds, you’ll be fine. Make sure you try moving and walking as soon as they allow you to. You can still lose all the weight you gained. I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight 6-7 months after giving birth. However, I did gain it all back, but that was my fault haha. My milk came in during my hospital stay. Your body knows what to do. Postpartum is the same, in terms of supplies. You’re still going to bleed. It’s just going to be harder to do things. So take it slow and use all the help you can. You got this mama!
Depending on the hospital you deliver you can ask for a family centered I think it’s called, section where they do a lot of things to try to give benefit to your baby & you that are things before could only have with a vaginal birth, there’s a lot of stuff That you have to do extra in terms of healing for a C-section and you wanna make sure that your doctor does the type of suturing that is less likely to cause uterine rupture especially if you want to have more children in future Idk how common double suturing & I think it’s horizontal esp for final incision is better is in your area.. I think it really depends on your doctor most of all some women have horrible complications from vaginal birth and very easy recovery from C-section and the opposite can also be true so generally speaking we don’t know how it’s gonna go and we don’t even know which is gonna be the easier recovery..
About weight loss it’s so individual and there’s so many factors that are affecting it. Some people do have a C-section shelf but that doesn’t really have to do with fat. It has to do with scar tissue so once you’re completely healed you can go to a physical therapist or you might be able to do the massage & exercises yourself, to break up the scar tissue and then you won’t have that issue. a lot of friends had C-sections and only a couple of them have shelves like that and there’s not that much difference long-term in terms of vaginal versus C-section returning to pre-baby weight or losing baby weight, I think lifestyle factors a much bigger role and how much support you have to be able to have the time and energy to eat right and exercise.
This is going to be a repeat c section for me. I'm currently 34 + 2 and they want to schedule for 37 weeks. I definitely recommend staying on top of pain meds. They will want you to get up and walk so take your time. Gas x will be your friend gas pains are no fun. Also ask for a belly band most hospitals prove them. Also don't be alarmed if you have more swelling in your legs and feet. Loose fitting clothes are also good. Feel free to message me if you would like to. Reason for my first pregnancy was baby was 10 pounds 8.1 oz she was breech but ended up turning before c section. The reason for this one is mild anemia.
1. No I didn’t find recovery tough, nothing worse than period cramps for a week and then no drugs after that. 2. I lost all my pregnancy weight. 3. Yes, I was feeding baby straight away in recovery. Lots of colostrum and then my milk arrived as normal. 4. Big Grannie knickers, stool softener (the meds are good but can block you up), nice snacks. Stay active, mobility quickens your recovery and take your meds bang on time to avoid pain breakthrough that first week.
I couldn't lay in bed for 3 months after having my c section. So I guess recovery is different for everyone. I had to be in a recliner and my c section was quite traumatic. Being in active labor for 7 and a half hours the day before my scheduled c section was very traumatic. They wouldn't even let me have ice chips. Finally they came in and said my baby had other plans. Not to mention I was on the monitors and the said I wasn't in labor when I had contractions every 2 minutes. I'm devastated to get a repeat.
That's so freaky, I'm sorry. I would look into videos from birth coaches and doulas on how you might be able to get him to flip. You still have time!! Even if the blood pressure still means an induction at term, you may not NEED to settle for a c-section. It's possible that you can get him in the right position with the right stretches. Just something to look into. Best of luck either way!!
I had an emergency c-section with my first, and it honestly wasn't that bad! I was released from the hospital 1.5 days later, and breastfed my daughter for 2 years. As far as weight, I personally didn't lose like the last 20lbs until I stopped breastfeeding, but I do have a pooch. Maybe from the c-section. The hardest part was picking up baby the first two weeks since she was in this bassinet thing and it hurt to turn my body that way.
My first was an emergency C Section. Milk came in while I was still in the hospital 2 days later. I didn’t buy any postpartum supplies as the hospital already provided them and gave me pads and the loose high waisted underwear to go home with. The first week or so was a little rough and uncomfortable with difficulty holding the baby and finding a comfortable way to sleep at night, but everything was a breeze after that. You start feeling better in no time. I have my second C Section scheduled for next week as well at 37 weeks due to high blood pressure so hoping for the best!
I also had to stay in the hospital for 5 days
A planned c section is much less stressful on your body than an emergency one. You’re able to plan, and your body is not under a lot of stress and pain from being in labor. I had an emergency c section for my daughter and the healing was awful. I could barely bend down to change her diaper. If things aren’t looking well for a vaginal birth this time, I’m going to schedule a C-section because I do not want the same experience again! I didn’t start losing weight until a year after the C-section, but I’m not sure the surgery is the reason. Most woman still bounce back. Milk was not an issue. I was nursing her as soon as she came out!
With my 3 c sections they provide everything i needed postpartum im having my 4th c section
