C section recovery

I am about to have a c section next week and I am so worried about it! Especially the recovery. I have watched videos where people talk about wearing belly binder to help afterwards. Has anyone used it and if so when did you start using? Did it help at all?

Heyy! So I had an emergency c section so wasn’t prepared at all! I didn’t use a binder but I had packed primark control pants which helped a lot. The first time you move it kinda feels like your insides are falling out so it helps keep everything in. I’m sure a binder would be even better just make sure it’s nothing that’ll irritate the scar

I had an emergency c section but never had the feeling of my insides moving when I first got up, but I had a spinal block, so I'm not sure if that's why. I never used a binder either. I just wore over the bump maternity underwear with a pad inside against the wound to help keep it dry x

I had a semi-elective c-section. The recovery to me wasn’t bad - you just have to allow yourself to rest, keep on top of your pain relief. I didn’t wear a belly binder but wore high waisted Tena pants or knickers. As soon as I could - I got out of bed and had a shower (5 hours after my section) and it definitely helped. The worst part was trying to 💩 - I’d get peppermint tea to help and take the stool softeners for that and the blood thinning injections. But it was a very calm and controlled birth and a beautiful experience for my husband and I. Wish you all the best.

i had an emergency section i just wore big loose pants with a pad, i showered about 12 hours after in the hospital and then just kept it dry!

I had a planned section 8 days ago and to be honest I’ve had tough moments but in general it’s been fine, long as you take your pain relief. It’s such a magical time. I would say big knickers that go up to your belly button and are soft cotton are a must.

I'd say don't use a binder right at the start they can make your recovery longer. Yes they can provide support but then you still need to build your muscles back up. I'm not going to lie I was in agony, but my pain wasn't well managed in hospital, at home it was better. The worst of the pains in the first week I'd say.

Thank you for all the supportive comments! I am quite scared but hopefully it will all be okay!
