Just curious

My husband and I are having a discussion about which is more difficult/ painful vaginal or C-section birth and I’m curious for moms who have maybe experienced both what your thoughts are or just in general what you hear We are not discrediting any form of birth btw just very curious as despite having no experience with birthing a baby my man seems to have a very strong opinion 😂

I’ve only had a vaginal birth and I’m planning the same for my other babies. Pain just felt like a lot of period cramps at once. But I’d take it since my post care was good. Post care c section is longer compared to vaginal. I’m also a c section baby.

So I gave birth vaginally but my sister in law gave birth via a C-Section and from us two speaking I would say the process of vaginal birth is typically longer and more painful, whereas a C-Section is done quicker (depending on the process beforehand etc) but it's the recovery afterwards that is harder/more painful. I've also got a couple mum friends who have experience both sides and that seems to be the general jist. But everyone is different x

I can only speak on my experience and I would say c-section because I felt them cutting into my body plus all the pressure from the doctors digging in my body to pull the baby out. the recovery was awful and hard

I had two vaginally births and yes it painful but the healing process is alot shorter than a c section I had a c section with my little girl cause she breached I will saying the healing process is alot longer you are numb and they are tugging and pulling on 7 layers compare too pushing a baby out and the end is like ring of fire 🔥 a momma with 3 babys vaginally is so much easier than c section you have either stitches or staples put in after so defiantly a c section is worse could take forever too heal im a month pp and hurts too daily activities and still have the stitches until the 11th of this month

Bc of my own personal experience i'd say C-section. Like Ashley above, i also felt the pain when they cut into me like BAD that they had to knock me out with meds several times. Woke up in so much pain and felt the cuts. First time standing up felt like someone hit me with a car in my mid section lol 😬 long to recover, no hot baths, i used a shower chair a bit at first and uterus lining will be delicate from now on. My friends said vaginal birth was very easy for them and one of them just said about the ring of fire which felt like pressure for her but again i didnt get to know how that feels and everyone's is different Bc on pain tolerance, procedure, complications. Hopefully i can try vaginal birth later bcus i was told can try but we shall see.

Don’t get a c-section !!! Unless you really have to.

My mom said her c-section was amazing compared to her vaginal births personally I’m scared on c-sections lol I’ve never had one just a vaginal birth with two doses of epidural lol

I chose to have a c-section. The recovery was quick was up walking for short walks by the second day. It was painful but I expected it obviously so my body adjusted. Only horrible part was if I sat in a certain position there was this pain where I could not move or get up on one side but would only go away when I stand. I was terrified on sitting down because on what can happen but I’m 4m PP and it’s gone, I don’t think it’s normal fyi. I think it was the other things that came along after my c section that was more painful 😂

I only had a vaginal birth and personally the only painful part was the contractions. The actual pushing wasn’t painful. However some woman go through the whole labor process and end up having to get a C-section so I guess they get the best of both worlds… personally I believe a c section is probably difficult/painful and compared to a vaginal birth just because the recovery can be more difficult on the body. But I guess that also depends on the amount of tearing that happens while delivering vaginally… I honestly think birth in general can be painful no matter how you deliver..

I had an emergency section was pushing for natural but didn’t even get past 4cm the recovery is hard but in all honesty id do it again and am this time it’s elective so I won’t feel any pain and it will be over then and there it just depends on what chose!

I did like half vag and then c section. She started coming but then got stuck in the wrong position so they pushed her back up and twisted her but it just didn’t work. Honestly i wished she came out bc it was so traumatic for me. The c section technically went smoothly but the whole time I thought I was going to for sure die to the point I was throwing up stomach acid and shaking like crazy and it wasn’t painful but I could feel them moving inside me and felt them disconnect her from my body. The pain after was horrible and my tape ended up getting stuck in some of my pubic hair causing me to have to ask my stepmom to pull it off for me. I couldn’t get up from the couch and could barely walk around. At one point I got a lump under the incision that ended up popping and leaking for 3 days. I’m 5 months postpartum and still can’t lift things that are too heavy without a little pain.

I can’t sleep in the hospital w the buzzers buzzing nurses all night…I asked one of the nurses why are you are getting buzzed consistently even in the middle of the night? She said mums that have had Csec, some can’t pick up their own baby from bassinet to nurse/change diaper so they buzz for help. As a mum that have had 3 vaginals and could walk immediately and didn’t need help picking up my own baby- that was a huge eye opener for me on “recovery” comparing the 2.

I’ve had both. C section was a million times worse. Though I acknowledge that I had an uncomplicated vaginal delivery and not everyone has that experience.

I had a vaginal birth it was painful i labor from 10pm and had my baby 12 the next day. Even though vaginal birth is painful because of the contractions and what not the healing process is not as bad as C-section. So if you can I would advise vaginal birth

After I had my baby I could walk on my own without feeling a lot of pain I could even poop and pee but in my case I didn’t tear or get hemorrhoids. I think the process for both is different for everyone because my friend also had a C-section she could the next day and she felt better in a week however she wanted vaginal birth.

Think about it this way….your birth canal and the internal organs associated with birth are designed for vaginal birth. They stretch and move throughout pregnancy to accommodate your baby leaving your body this way. And while things can go wrong and plenty of people do experience vaginal trauma of some kind, your body was made for it. A c section cuts through 7 layers of your body, pulling them apart (which you can feel btw even if you don’t register the sensation as pain due to the spinal block), to get your baby out. Then your organs are put back into you, you’re sewn shut, and handed a baby. It’s excruciating for at minimum the first week but can last for months. You cough, pain. Sneeze, pain. Laugh, pain. Twist your body the wrong way, pain. Other fun things no one talks about are that when you’re bowel gets moved around, it disconnects the signal to your brain and you get trapped gas in areas like your shoulder or rib cage that feels like being stabbed.

Both vaginal and C-section births are tough in different ways. Vaginal birth has intense contractions and pushing, but recovery is usually faster. C-sections are less painful during the procedure due to anesthesia, but recovery takes longer since it’s major surgery. Both experiences are valid, and it really depends on each person’s body and birth experience!

I’ve had both, the pain during a vaginal is definitely worse, as when you’re having a section, you’re numbed up. However the recovery afterwards with a section is worse. I don’t think you can necessarily compare the two on which one has the worse pain, as they are so different.

I had a c-section after an hour of trying to get my little man out vaginally but made sure I knew about both options prior to labour. A c-section sounds easier because you don't have to physically labour, however the recovery process can be much harder because they cut threw 7 layers of skin, tissue and muscle; which means your stomach muscles lacking afterwards, you've got stitching, and in a lot of cases can still "feel" your incision months to years later. Vaginal births although painful during the process is quicker to heal, even with ripping. My grandmother used to say " it's probably the worst pain you will ever feel but the fastest one forgotten"
