My son had it twice for his grommets ages 18 months and 26 months. We are in the Netherlands but imagine it’s the same in the UK. Happy for you to message if you want x
Some of my kids have at different ages . It's very simple they normally make it quite fun for kids who have a understanding in some way. Feel free to message if you want x
My little one had to have it for an MRI scan. The doctors/nurses are amazing, and make it very fun, used bubbles/toys etc. Let they both parents come with them to put him under and my husband held him whilst I showed him the iPad so he was distracted. He didn't want the mask on his face so they just held it near his nose/mouth to make him drowsy and then went drowsy enough popped the mask on and he was gone. It's very quick, like minutes. I did get upset seeing him a bit "woozy" not so much about the anaesthetic as it's a common procedure but obviously not nice to see your child like that. They put a cannula in his hand once under so was no pain for him. When he came round we were allowed to see him in the recovery room and bring him back to the room. He was floundering a bit around the bed and quite disoriented but not distressed in anyway and it wore off within the hour I'd say and he was pretty much back to normal like nothing ever happened! Sending love ❤️
@Jen thank you soo much.
@Jossie thank you soo much.
@Fliss - Zaza thank you soo much.
@Sydni thank you soo much for your comment that's really helpful and reassuring. I hope your little one is doing well.
@Emma Jay I know it's scary but they really are such resilient little beings and I felt better about it being done now when he won't ever remember a thing! It's just us that's left traumatised lol. But honestly wasn't as bad as id envisioned! It'll be over before you know it ☺️x
We haven’t had to have general anaesthetic but my daughter has had a cannula a few times - not a nice experience but is generally done quite quickly. My aunt is a paediatric anaesthetist at the Bristol Children’s Hospital and they produced this video a few years ago for children about to have surgery which maybe useful: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rYsi9WD3AD8
