I’m pretty sure I couldn’t soak in the bath until around 6 weeks post surgery
I’ve just had my second section, i showered the next day at home when I was discharged. They just tell you not to directly wash your scar with any soap and just let the water run off your body around that area x
I was told I couldn’t get my dressing wet for 5 days, and then once it was off I could shower (no soaking in the bath) but not use any soap or products on or around my incision. I only had a bath at the time so I ran a super shallow bath and used a jug and flannel to clean myself. Even just that little bit of water was euphoric 😂😂x
@Zoe I've just bought a load of body wipes and some shampoo mask things. As from previous experiences of being told not to shower I absolutely hated it and struggled with bathing/washing my hair. No idea if they're any good but it's something
I was able to take a shower the day after but I had a Pico 7 dressing which was brilliant but not all NHS trusts offer it. I wanted to get up and shower straight after surgery and the midwife looked at me like I was crazy 🤣
I had an emergency C-section with my first. They took my dressing at the hospital the next day after surgery and didn’t put anything back on. They told me I could shower straight away, but don’t let soap get near the incision as it could get irritated. Also don’t put any creams/oils on it. Hope this helps x
@Emily yes! I just didn’t feel like ‘myself’ until I could have a good scrub of my scalp. It got to the point where I had enough of these shallow baths and my husband drove me to my mums house so that I could just stand in the shower and let the water run down me 😂. I felt like a new woman! I’ve not heard of these shampoo masks before but definitely something to look into if it’s even going to make you feel a tad bit of normalcy! Xx
I had the same experience as Beatriz 2 years ago x
Cant soak it until it's sealed I think 🤔 you can shower with the dressing on, I think they recommend removing the dressing in the shower so showers are fine, just be careful not to soak x
