Mine was an induction at 37 weeks along. They started the induction at midnight and had me take some cervical softener medicine. I took two doses before my contractions started, they were very mild and sporadic. Then they started a low dose of pitocin, bumping up one unit every 30 minutes. i was on that from about 6AM and started having intense contraction and my water broke around 12:00. They were extremely uncomfortable, but nothing i couldn’t handle i just could not talk through them. They ramped up to every 1/2 mins lasting 1 min 30 secs, i contracted like that for 3 hours. Had my little one at 5:41PM. Was is painful? Absolutely. Was it worth it? ABSOLUTELY. It was not a bad experience, it was a hard experience. You will be okay❤️ just communicate with your nurses and birth team if you have one. Don’t be afraid or embarrassed to ask for pain medicine, every birth is different and what’s important is your being that sweet baby into the world health and you’re healthy too.

I got the Ballon inserted the day before and that got me to 4 cm dilated mechanically. Went in next day to get induced at 11, was doing great than contractions started to get really bad and was only 6 cm dilated so got the epidural. Took a nap and woke up and hung out and pushed for 45 min and baby was here by 8:45 pm that same day. Overall it was a great experience. I was one day past my due date and was not dilated at all before the Ballon.

I just delivered last week at 41+1 as well! My induction progressed a little faster than what people on average experience. They started off by first checking my cervix to have a baseline that they could go off of. Since I was 1.5 cm dilated & 70% effaced , they only administered a half dosage of Cytotec which is a cervical softener as mentioned in the previous comment. Then, 4 hours later I was administered the other half of the Cytoec medication & from there things picked up really fast. I went from 1.5 cm to 7 cm. I originally wanted to give birth without an epidural but ended up caving and received the epidural. Then about an hour later I was at 10 cm & started pushing. Pushed for an hour & baby was born 10/03 at 12:17 pm! The duration of my induction from start to end was about 16 hours.

@Sani So you didn't need pitocin?
