I had a C-Section at 37+4 this past week, took 3 days for my milk to come in but it’s been so lovely building up to it! I do top up with formula in some feeds but this was more for my personal preference xxxx
I had a c section and the breastfeeding journey has been just fine. 8 months and still going well
The fact that you’ve successfully breastfeed a baby before will go a long way towards making it a smooth journey with this one too regardless of delivery method. I think for first time mums after a c section it can be harder to establish breastfeeding but it’s not impossible. As a FTM I successfully EBF my ceserean baby but it wasn’t without monumental effort and blood sweat and tears in the beginning. My pro tip - get baby on the breast asap and allow them to cluster feed. In the early days while BF is being established do not give bottles and top ups unless medically necessary.
Both mine were c sections. Nursed the first for 20 months and currently nursing my newborn. I don’t think it was any more difficult than others. And I didn’t get the “golden hour” or anything and was still fine
I have been EBF for 6M after a C-section and am still going strong.
Absolutely possible. For my second I had an emergency c section under General Anaesthetic. My baby had to go to NiCu and I didn't get to hold her till she was 4 days old. She was tube fed, until day 6 where we tried to get her latched on to breastfeed, she's now 10.5 months old, and exclusively breastfed. You will smash it 👍
Thank you everyone! That really helped with my worries.
Plenty of mums who require a c section go on to have wonderful breastfeeding journeys
