I’ve had a c section previously, second booked in for couple weeks time. I have packed: - disposable underwear - pads - Frida c section band - comfy loose pyjamas - slippers - toiletries - nipple balm and silverettes as I plan to breastfeed You won’t need an awful lot while you’re at the hospital. But I’d make sure you have plenty of paracetamol and ibuprofen for when you get home. Also ask them for a prescription of stool softeners as going to the loo can be scary afterwards and you’re not allowed to push. Wishing you all the best for Friday. Xx
Don’t take a suitcase! Biggest mistake I made. Wasn’t able to bend down to get stuff out of it or lift it up to get stuff. Also nighties/dresses are ideal as you don’t have to bend to put them on, but high waisted clothes and underwear are essential to not rub on your wound. I used disposable briefs and they were the comfiest. Check with your hospital if they will prescribe laxatives and also if you’ll be needing blood thinning injections just to mentally prepare for those. Not really an essential to take but a good tip - if you have gas pain, the only thing that relieved it for me was massage and my fiancé literally massaging the gas down my back. At home, have your changing station high so you don’t need to bend to change baby’s nappy x x
Big pants so that the band is not on your scar. I also took a water bottle with straw so I could have it close to me in bed and not be moving too much to have a drink. High wasted trousers for coming home.
A pillow for the journey home. I held it across my section scar to make all the bumps a lot easier. A small fan (the wards are boiling and the painkillers make you feel warm and lightheaded if you get too hot) x
Following as I am also booked in for a c section Friday
