Have you got a baby carrier? My baby is a bit fussy in the buggy so I always take our carrier out too. I went out with her last week and she woke up screaming in the buggy so I popped her in the carrier and she fell asleep straight away. Not ideal but if I take both it means i can still go out and about without the stress that she won't settle!
I don’t have any words of wisdom here as I feel the same way! Walking is fine but I’m so anxious to go anywhere like coffee shops or anything in case the baby screams the place down. I’m hoping small steps, maybe just grabbing a coffee to go and sitting down for 5 minutes with it, so I can leave straight away if she’s not feeling it. Hope you start to feel more confident soon x
How old is your little one? I felt the same but have just been to our first class today and the noise and distraction seemed to calm her, she only fussed for the first 5 mins. Classes are a good place to start because you can be almost certain there will be other crying babies so it gets you used to being out without feeling anxious about it. Feel free to reach out if you need someone to talk to, I totally know how you’re feeling! You got this 💪🏼
I know exactly how you feel as my first hated the pram or the car and would scream unless asleep. He also didn’t sleep at night either. And the thing that used to stress me out was everyone saying all babies love to be pushed or all babies just sleep in the car. Well not mine! But honestly the first thing is that like mentioned above, nobody minds a crying baby, it happens and if you can build yourself up to just take the plunge, perseverance will help you with these worries. Second, I also always took my carrier out when I was in the pram or car because it settled him. Annoying to push an empty pram most days whilst you wore the baby in the carrier but really helped. My second, 12 weeks now, loves the pram and is happy in the car but screams in the carrier. You just can’t predict what they will like can you but good luck, I can guarantee no one will be bothered by the crying so enjoy your fresh air when you feel up to it
I felt like that at 6 weeks, now at almost 8 I’m living a completely different life with a very different baby. I had to get over my anxiety that she would start crying in the pram or wouldn’t fall asleep. I was convinced before that she only slept in the carrier, and my body was so sore from carrying her multiple hours a day. So we had a ‘trial day’ where we tried all methods again, and she fell asleep in the pram after walking a bit. Since then I’ve been out a lot with her and feeling so much better about it all. She also stopped crying so much after hitting 7 weeks, which made everything easier too. Hang in there, give the pram another go when she has only been awake for a bit and after a feed and just try new things. We use white noise in the pram, figured out baby hates when we put the cover down, and after adjusting those things we now have 2 hours naps in there. All the best x
Sorry you’re feeling this way🥰is there anywhere near you that you could get out for a walk, that’s quiet with not many people around? Could maybe try that. I was the same and would worry about what people would think if my little one started crying/screaming but the more you do it, the less you care and the more I realised that people don’t really mind. It might help your little one get used to it too xxx
