@Ellen thank you!! Am in a lot of pain already (only gave birth yesterday!) so the thought of having a newborn and an infection makes me want to cry! Anything can do to prevent it I’ll definitely try! Xx
You’ll just need to wash it regularly. Shower and all that every couple of days if not everyday. And then use paper towels or like a wash cloth or something to dab the area dry every so often. I had/have a big one and have to wipe the area often to dry it. Especially right after my c section to not have it be infected
No matter what be gentle with it. When you do shower or do dab it dry just be gentle. Lift it up and be gentle. You gave birth yesterday so your belly is still big from pregnancy and still very swollen so in the next few weeks it will go down some but still be gentle and wash often
Agree with above. After a shower just lay down for 10 or so minutes and let air get to it, make sure it’s nice and dry as much as possible and don’t let any clothes/underwear rub on it so opt for all high waisted
Oo yeah you can also use a hair dryer. To help dry it
I have this too and once my dressing was taken off I use a cotton pad each night with water to just dab it It does smell a little and a little weepy but no sign of infection so far xx
I could’ve written this myself! I actually did get an infection but my incision was covered up with plastic film sort of like contact. I got the film taken off and after cleaning the wound, the midwives showed me how to place a pad under the shelf covering the incision, with the sticky side on my undies. It collects any excess moisture and weeping. I change it everytime I go to the toilet when I change my other pad. I also try to lay down on my bed, after the shower holding up my shelf for a while to let some air circulate. Not sure if that actually helps but I feel like it does cool it down and make sure it’s proper dry before I put the pad in there.
