Can we talk about how f**king horrendous separation anxiety is

My daughter is waking up every night for 2 hours or more (!) and she’s kicking me and screaming “mummy! Mummy! Mummy!” I go in and cuddle her, feed her, rock her, pat her, lay next to her, do whatever I can to reassure her but every few seconds she’s checking I’m there. Obviously I’m exhausted from the nights, this has been going on for best part of 2 weeks… But now it’s happening in the day and I’m about to lose the plot. I can’t breathe without her saying “mummy!” and clinging to me. It’s making me so, so overwhelmed! I feel like I’m going to snap! Has anyone got any advice?? 😩

Could you co sleep?

@Sarah it might come to that as we have a spare bed in her room. We coslept until she was 6 months old but she’s very wriggly and I don’t sleep well with her so it’s not a perfect solution by any means 😢

Co sleeping could help. For daytime, I got loop earplugs as I get overstimulated easily. Perhaps that’s an option for you but gosh it is soooooo hard, we are in the same boat.

A friend of mine has the loop earphones too, and they make a huge difference to her now she has two. I would also suggest trying co sleeping. It is really hard. We had a very attached stage a few months ago that felt like it lasted FOREVER where it was me or no one else. It has passed to a certain extent, and she’s happy to play with her dad and others most of the time!
