Birth story!!

He’s finally here! Albie Ray Haywood 🫧☁️ So I went for a regular midwife appointment on Tuesday the 15th and had high protein in urine and high blood pressure so was sent to triage. They did urine samples and bloods and called me back that evening after the results came back saying they need me to go in and be induced due to having preeclampsia. Was expecting to be induced that night, had an examination and I was already 2cm dilated so could go straight to have my waters broke, however there were no beds or staff on the labour ward for me to go down and start it off, along with 4 other women that were also waiting! 24 hours later they were preparing me to go in saying I was next on the list and they were just waiting for a bed and to pack up our things and expect to go that night or early hours the next morning. Then overnight multiple women had come in who were in spontaneous labour and I was again waiting for a bed. (Thursday 17th). Gets to 3:30pm and I start having contractions, half an hour later my waters broke on their own and at 6:33pm he was born! From first contraction to him coming it was only 3 hours, I had no pain relief as they couldn’t get me down to the labour ward in time, and I gave birth in the maternity unit! It was the craziest experience of my life, and most definitely the hardest. I couldn’t even have the gas and air as it just made me feel so sick, every time I tried it I was gagging and it made me feel worse. I’m so proud of my baby and my body working together to get him out. They knew something wasn’t right and he was better out than in and obviously couldn’t wait any longer. He had also pooed inside me. Don’t get me wrong it was agonising and I do wish I could have had some sort of pain relief as I really wanted a peaceful labour, but I would do it all over again for my boy 👶🏼🤍

Congratulations 🥰😊 he’s beautiful

Amazing! Congratulations! I'm in a similar situation waiting to be induced and being no beds and staffing issues

@Becca thank you!!

@Heather honestly it was a nightmare but the staff were amazing luckily and I had the best experience that I could have had regarding the circumstances, they were so apologetic. I hope you get sorted soon!🤞🏻

Congratulations 🥰 he’s perfect! Sorry you had to go through all this, what was your blood pressure that they felt that they need to induce you?

Congratulations! Well done you 😍😍

@Katie thank you!!

@Alexandra thank you!! It was 130 something over 80 something at the midwife appointment so she sent me to hospital, she said you can either be 20 less or 20 more than your booking appointment and mine was over 20 more otherwise she may not have bothered. It stayed around that at the hospital but they thought it was fine, but then they got my urine sample back which was a level of 105 (I’m not sure what of) and shouldn’t be higher than 30, so that’s why they wanted to induce and diagnosed preeclampsia. My blood pressure did however raise even higher whilst waiting to be induced and then reached 160 something during labour so I’ve been on medication for it since x

Massive congratulations that's a really lovely birth story and glad you're both safe and well xxx

@Georgie thank you sm!xx
