And I should say, women with UNTREATED HG can be in the death zone longer. Don’t be afraid of the meds, of getting all the help you can, and if you are able to, rest as much as possible. You can do this 💙 and you can decide not to if you feel like you can’t, but think long and hard before making that decision
I was horrendous at first, could barely lift my head. I’m now 22 weeks and haven’t been sick for 6 weeks. I take promethazine, it will get better, I know it’s tough ❤️
Sending you all my love and strength, it is so so so so tough and anyone that hasn’t gone through it will never understand. Can I ask what country you’re based in and what treatments you have been offered? In the UK there is a new drug called Xonvea which has been really effective for many, myself included. In the US there are options with similar if not the same active ingredients. Please reach out for support where you can. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. In the UK, ‘pregnancy sickness support’ is amazing and offers specific counselling. In the US there is the HER hyperemesis foundation, not sure if they offer mental health support themselves but they have amazing resources available. ❤️
Totally feel your pain! I’m 15 weeks and off work since 4 weeks. The medications have really helped me - especially ondansetron in the second trimester. Sending love, you are not alone!
I’m so sorry 😞 Please reach out for any and all the mental health support you can get, and have a good good search into what resources are available to you to help give some relief. Many HG sufferers do opt for compassionate termination- suicidal ideation is unfortunately common with HG, so if you cannot survive the pregnancy or will get to a place worse than rock bottom in your health, please know that termination is completely your choice if you decide to go that route and it does not make you a bad person. If you decide to perservere, please know that women who have HG the entire pregnancy (like me) and find some treatment options don’t typically feel THIS bad the whole 9 months. You’re in what we call ‘the death zone.’ It feels worse than dying and no meds or treatment help- please know the death zone only lasts a couple weeks. You will NOT feel like this the whole way through , and not for too long if you go to the hospital or other medical care to get some meds and fluids.
