I had a full on episiotomy yesterday and while peeing is uncomfortable for me it doesn't sting, dreading going for my first post baby poo though
@Georgie my advice would be take laxatives and don't put off going. I had an episiotomy with my first and didn't go for a week. Mainly cos I was scared and it just got worse! X
Thanks @Sam good advice xx
i’m just over three weeks pp. i am only just out of nappies and onto pads due to my bleeding finally slowing down. it’s started to sting down there a lot the past few days. i went to the hospital and they said it’s healing nicely but there’s a slight lump where it needs to be sutured together which they did yesterday so i am hoping for a bit of relief soon. i had a second degree tear
@Georgie pooping is HARD. it feels like you’re trying to push for a baby again 🤣 i waited until i was that desperate that it was literally falling out of there. im over 3 weeks PP now and it still takes me ages on the toilet as my body physically can’t push it out 😬
I had vaginal/labial laceration they called it, not perineal, but I had stitches on them and tbh they didn’t really hurt much at all. I more felt achey in my bum where I’d felt like the bones were breaking when I pushed out my little boy 😂 But I used a peri spray bottle and spritz for bits on my pads and a week and a half in I could barely feel any stinging or aching any more :) Im now 4 weeks PP and can go on 3 hr walks with hills and a pram and have no discomfort or anything xx
@Georgie just to add onto sam's advice too - make sure you keep taking the laxatives consistently too! i had a second degree tear with my first, and my first poo was fine, second was really scary because i hadn't taken enough of the laxatives after the first one xx
this time i had a first degree tear that didn't need stitches, i reckon by about a week postpartum it was no longer stinging. with my first i had a second degree tear, but i think it must have been more internal than this time because it didn't really sting much, it did hurt sitting down sometimes though. i reckon that passed by 2 weeks though xx
I’m 12 days. The stinging stopped and started for me. It’s still ongoing but not as bad and I have good days and bad days. Definitely drink lots of water to dilute your wee as that helps reduce stinging too.
Have any of you been swollen between the lips down there? Not sure how best to describe it. Thank you for the advice so far x
I was very swollen for quite a few days. I had bad piles too so literally everywhere was just large swollen lumps. I actually feel like it stung more when the swelling went down though. It went from being painful and sore to a mild stinging feeling. If you’re worried or concerned at all you can ask the midwife to check you at your appointments
The hospital gave me some numbing stuff that you put on, to pee ( you can buy it online, never had it before but it has been a lifesaver). I also used the my expert midwife bath salts and spritz for bits, im 2 weeks pp and I feel pretty much heeled. Drink lots, wee often even though it’s scary. The serious stinging stopped after a couple of days. But I did find different positions helped more than others x
@Anastasia do you know what the numbing stuff was called? What positions did you try?x
It’s called instillagel,I actually found that depending on where you cuts are, I tried squatting so the wee ran down the back, lifting one leg off the toilet so it goes to one side, vice versa, leaning forward, but if you get the numbing stuff as long as you go often enough and it doesn’t get out, you won’t feel it, also peeing in a shallow warm bath really helped me with mine, whilst swishing the water around. But make sure your drinking so your wee is diluted, I hope it doesn’t last long for you x
I’m almost 3 weeks PP (3/10) and only now it’s stopped stinging! I’ve stopped wearing the thick pads and just use regular panty liners. Still doesn’t feel 100% back to normal down there but I’d say maybe 90%. I had no stitches and just a small superficial tear.
