Circumcision and other penis related questions

Hi! So I’m having my first very very soon ❤️ I plan to circumcise and I’m worried about the care that goes into it. How hard is it for baby boy to heal and what goes into diaper changing? Also, what do they mean you need to tuck their boy parts after you change a diaper?

The care isn’t that hard honestly! You just put a shit on of Vaseline jelly after each change so the cut can heal and doesn’t stick to the diaper. My little boy was completely healed after two weeks! If you don’t stick the penis down after the diaper change it the penis will pee out of the diaper 😂 so point the hole downward and not upward

It’s actually extremely easy! Glob of Vaseline on it. That’s basically it.

Hi! It was really easy aftercare honestly. You just put Neosporin on a gauze pad in their diaper for a week and we gave him tylenol for a couple days until the pain subsided. You go in for a checkup a week later and the doctor makes sure it's all good.

Yep just point the penis down into the diaper haha instead of up or it’ll be everywhere

We always put vaseline on the diaper and one the penis

My advice is too do it early ihave a 5weeks boy and i did it at 2weeks and it healed in a week now my boy is very relaxed ! 😌

@Sol i have used vaseline for it and you can’t believe evry time he has liking from nappy i had to change his clothes evrytime but I think with vaseline is the best

Going to add to the advice because most is repetitive! They should tell you after the procedure to pull back the foreskin every so often to make sure It doesn’t reattach, i know it’s scary but you need to do It. I didn’t because It freaked me out and my sons slightly reattached. Not enough for another procedure luckily but just make sure you do It❤️

@Bria our doctor told us there is multiple ways to this procedure! The one our doctor goes with doesn’t include having to pull back the skin during the healing process! So it all depends what procedure the doctor chooses to do!

@Sol It might depend on each place they do It at and how the procedure was done! I’m pretty sure they told me after the follow up ! So many factors for sure but it’s not impossible for It to reattach

@Trinity yes of course i should’ve added that, thank you!

It’s super easy! It does depend a little on the type of circ. For the Gomco (cuts the skin off. Plastibell leave a plastic thing on that falls off after a week or 2), You just add Vaseline to his penis with each change (some doctors also recommend gauze on top of the vaseline) to keep it from sticking the first 4-5 days and keep it clean if poop gets on there. It’ll heal within about 10 days give or take a bit when you do it early. My son had his at 3 days. They gave him Tylenol after but he didn’t fuss other than when the took the swaddle off after they were done. He healed up in about 6-7 days and was never bothered by it. Tucking their parts just means that you want to (after his circ) make sure to point his penis down in the diaper to minimize leaks.

I didn't circumcise my son, but tucking is just pointing it down so when he pees it doesn't go up into the waistband of his diaper

The care is so easy! Vaseline and that’s about it! Pulling it down also

It’s easy! You just have to put a lot of Vaseline or aquaphor on it and let put it on a thing of gauze then put the penis downward. It’s easy it’s just a bit time consuming at times cause my son for example he hated diaper changes and he’s impatient so for me at times it was a pain trying to do this step lol but we did it I think for 2 weeks then the pediatrician told us we could stop

Shouldn't be too hard to help it heal. Keep him clean and put Vaseline on him every diaper change. Definitely what Trinity said about aiming the penis down!

So I never had to tuck my son’s penis, but some have to to avoid peeing out of a diaper. You point it downwards. Second, all we had to do was put a big glob of vasoline on him and close the diaper and it healed within a week !

The after care is very simple, if it's a plastibell circumcision then you do nothing. When the plastic "hat" falls off it's healed. If it's any other style then you put a big ole glob of Vaseline or A&D ointment on their penis, cover with a piece of gauze and diaper for 3-4 days then diaper as normal without ointment. Any circ takes about 10 days to fully heal. AFTER it's fully healed you'll want to pull the skin back every other day or so because the little skin there can reattach some. It's called bridging. Not a huge deal because it happens sometimes. If it bridges too much they will have to go back and do a quick little slice to reseperate it As for tucking, after it's healed you just push their penis to be pointing towards their toes when you close the diaper otherwise they likely will pee out the top of the diaper often

You're definitely overthinking it girl. You just keep Vaseline on the penis for 10 days so it doesn't stick to the diapers and that's it. Watch out, newborns will pee in your face. Got it in the eyes and mouth before
