British passport identity confirmation help

Hi, I know this is a long shot but does anyone have a profession listed on the gov website for passports identity verification? I am trying to get my son’s passport and just need the identity confirmation, everyone I know wasn’t eligible due to their profession and was wondering if any of you could help me out. I know that it has to be someone that knows me for at least 2 years but is there someone willing to make an exception if you meet the criteria? Thank you!

Isn’t there someone you see on regular that can? It’s an online link. Pharmacist or an optician?

@Dal nope, I literally have no one🥲

Your doctor

My best mate is a midwife I just asked her to fill n it went through

Asking strangers on the internet is literal fraud 😅 Anyone that agrees to it for you is an idiot.

@N 💞 agreed would not risk my professional registration for it. Your gp should be able to do it you may have to pay a small fee

@N 💞 @Naomi I understand your point of view but if I wasn’t desperate I wouldn’t ask strangers x I have no one that can help me and I didn’t know until after I applied that the person needs to be working in a recognised profession. They said until my application is complete and approved I won’t get my documents back, so if you can’t help me please don’t scare away people that are willing to. Thanks

@Naomi ridiculous isn’t it! Also, gp’s cannot do it, I found that out this week!

@Gabriela you don’t have a dentist or a nurse at your registered practises?

@N 💞 really ? Mine done ours last week but we’re NI so maybe it’s up to practices etc and he’s also our neighbour so knows us well !!

@N 💞 they said they can’t do it.

@N 💞 I don’t know if they can’t actually do it or if they are just not willing to do it for me.

The professional needs to know you personally it says. The list is extensive if you run in those circles but not fair if you don’t. I’d call up the office and tell them you personally don’t know anyone inThose professions and what can you do. Like others have said, we professionals won’t risk our jobs for someone online

@Gabriela dentists are on the approved list of recognised occupations accepted by the gov to sign

@Naomi oh yea it’ll be cos he’s your neighbour, if they know you in a personal setting as well and their profession is gp it’s fine. Just can’t ask your gp randomly if you don’t know them otherwise

@Gabriela do you not have a job? Does your husband not have a job? Where there is a director or the company, manager, business owner?

@N 💞 yes just read that! Understandable to be fair! Can be tedious trying to get it done !!

@Dal it doesn’t impact your job, I understand your point but I am sure it doesn’t impact your job otherwise they would ask for someone if it had something to do with the job

@Gabriela it would impact your job if you were found out to have lied about knowing the person you signed for. It’s a legal document you can’t forge it!

Is there anyone that’s willing to help me? I have asked my manager and my husbands manager but they didn’t get approved either as they are working there but not owning the company.

I have just sent off for my sons passport and I am in the same predicament as you however when I called the advice line I was told that I could just ask a neighbour and if they don’t work in the professions listed I can just submit a form alongside it explaining you have literally nobody else you can ask and this was the only person. I don’t have the link available now but if you go onto the website you can find their advice line number and they can send you the link to put in with the application, I was actually told to use this if I couldn’t find anyone at all but I was told I can just use a neighbour that has known me for the amount of time. Not sure if it will be approved or denied yet as I didn’t send any additional information but we will see

@Shay please let me know your outcome x maybe if that works I will try to do it as well

@N 💞 this is true, I used to work for HMPO. Just like its linked department of the Home Office, “sponsors” are on file. If you are just signing documents for random peoples applications and there’s no pattern it flags. Like how do I random know someone in another city or from another country etc. I’ve signed a few passport and visa applications for colleague’s children for example but they are relevant as I can prove I work with their parents. It is a legal identity document and it’s a criminal offence to commit fraud. Just call HMPO up and have a word, there’s ways around it but don’t get caught up in their system as suspicious.

I won’t really ask a stranger to legalese a legal document. Strange that your husband’s manager cannot do it ? You don’t have any friends that have a job that’s specified on the website ?

I got my son’s passport last week , my manager did it for me . Quickly n easy.

I am sure if you called them and explained they would provide a solution, no doubt there are many in your situation.

When I done my baby’s no one asked the profession of the person confirming the identity

There’s gotta be a neighbour, an old teacher or someone that can confirm they know you. Even just ring your drs. It’s fraud if not and you could literally end up in some serious trouble and you’ve broadcasted it on the internet 🫣

Hi would an eye doctor (not sure how they are called) be approved?

Yes, an optician is on the list 👁️

Or would my friend who is now a teacher be approved or does it have to be an old teacher of mine, my husbands manager wasn’t eligible either …

Teacher is fine. I am a teacher and have done it for friends kids.

If your friend is a teacher now that’s fine. It doesn’t have to have been your teacher, just someone in a qualifying profession that happens to know you.

@Jess I am just looking for advice if people aren’t willing to help me with this, I understand it’s something wrong but I’m not forcing anyone into it, if you know other options please let me know. I spoke to them yesterday and they said it has to be someone with a profession and the people with a profession that I know got rejected so that’s why I tried this app maybe there is someone out there that understands the situation. Thank you and sorry if this bothered you.

@Gabriela respectfully you are going around in circles here you’re admitting it’s wrong but still doing it anyway and expecting that someone will risk their career to help you. It is literal fraud. You are genuinely asking for someone to commit a criminal offence for you….if your friend is a teacher she will be able to sign it for you which will be perfectly acceptable. Alternatively ring the customer service department for assistance on what to do.

@Naomi I didn’t know I can call them I just spoke to them on the chat service. Now I know I can call so I will give that a try if hadn’t I used this app for help I wouldn’t have known that.

@Gabriela totally understand I know these things can be tedious and stressful. But I’m glad you’ve found some assistance without committing fraud!!xx

Your teacher friend should be able to do it for you.

@Gabriela it most certainly puts us at risk of fraud. In my professional we are very tightly governed

My friend helped me so thanks to those that gave me advice and sorry to those that felt bothered
