Elective c section - Christmas week

Is anyone electing for a c section & due the week of Christmas? I’m due Christmas Eve and midwife today scared me saying they may not do the c section until after Christmas, in my trust (in Essex) they don’t give you a date till approx 1 week before, has anyone else been given a date for an elective and due around this time? If so when are they going to do it x

I'm due 29th and have an elective on 23rd

They usually do electives in your 39th week, so I’d be surprised if they wait until after Christmas and your due date. Babies arrives over Christmas and the NHS doesn’t stop, so there’s likely 2 days max that they wouldn’t do it? That being Christmas Day & Boxing Day? Don’t worry though, if they don’t schedule it till after Christmas, if you go into labour prior you’ll just be classed as an emergency and they will do it whenever that happens xx

My elective is booked for 28th Dec. That’ll be week 38 for me but my first baby came 10 days earlier than her elective date so it’s no chances taken with the bank holidays.

Can I ask what Trust in Essex you're at? I haven't heard yet about when I'll get the date for my elective , I was hoping it'd be at my 36 week appt

I'm also due Xmas eve, my MV was telling me I should have a date by 36wks & if not she will begin chasing at that point to have it booked. However it was the consultant I met who informed me different & said it could be after Xmas they'd book me. It transpires I actually have GD therefore they will not allow me to go overdue & I've now been told I should have my section between 38-39th week. I think they say that because they don't book electives on Xmas day or boxing day so they lose 2 days of slots. I'm just focusing on my growth scans & 36wk app as reckon I'll know more by then 🤞🏼. Just to add, I'm in Scotland, West Lothian x

Hi , just a quick question who booked uou in gor c section? I keep talking with my midwife but she just refering oh you need to speak with a doctor at the hospital, how i can make this happen ? I found the service of my midwife a bit like she is trying to convince me not to do it or she pushing the time not to talk about it…

@Remigija she refers you to an obstetrician. If you’ve made your maternal request, your midwife legally needs to refer you under the nhs nice guidelines
