C section vs forceps

In my mind, I feel like I will rather have a c section than have to have an assisted birth with forceps …. Am I crazy ? Interested to know how others feel about this / experiences with this ? What would you do ? C section or forcep delivery?

I had a c section AND forceps with my little boy 🤣

I had a csection with forceps & vacuum suction with my girl.

I had both and would much rather have a forceps delivery

C section just sucks and your ab muscles take longer to recover

I had a c-section, and it was a great experience. I was calm because I was in a controlled environment, and that was important to me. the doctor was great, and my Baby was out quickly. The longest part was stitching. My recovery was very easy, I was up and walking within a few hours of surgery and going on short walks on day 5. I know recovery is different for everyone, mine was great.

Definitely c-section. Forceps are so bad for baby.

Why do you think you'll need either? Are you expecting to be induced? Planning an epidural? Anticipating early labor?? My vote is neither ❤️ push that baby out and snuggle it 🤣

I had forceps. Wasn't great. Don't recommend it. Tore like hell, couldn't sit in a chair for a few months, still experiencing fecal incontinence over 9 months later. Weird growth beginning to happen down there. May need corrective surgery

I say labor at home as long as possible till contractions are close together and more than a minute long. Then they probably won’t even have time to get that far. 🤞🏻 Seriously hoping for neither. Though forceps can be pretty dangerous for the baby.

My DR elected to do an incision in my perineal because my baby's heart rate was dropping and he said it was better than a C-section or using the vacuum.

I begged for a c section but they did forceps and it was brutal and traumatic and I ended with a section anyway so 🫠

I have forceps with my first 3rd degree tear episiotomy and a post partum hemorrhage so I got a full house with that delivery. I chose a c section with my 2nd and although my recovery has been a little harder than I would like but I would choose it over my first birth every time x

I had a c section and they used forceps to get him out during the c section as he was stuck under my ribs!

A midwife told me forceps are quite commonly used in a c section delivery. They were used when I had my little boy & they told me they nearly used them for my girl but then whatever way she moved she just got herself out so they didn’t need them.

Have you had a C-section before? I’ve had a section but not forceps, think I’d potentially choose forceps as I found my C-section recovery really hard and sore and if I can avoid further major abdominal surgery I would

@Jo omg yes! I had a C-section and it was awful. The recovery sucked so bad. I would rather do a home birth next just to avoid another c-section

@Naomi I'm curious, if you don't mind sharing.. were you induced and had you had an epidural when the Dr. decide it was time for an episiotomy and forceps?

@Elena home births are amazing ❤️ I've had 2 hospital births and now 3 home births. Hospital births are crazy rough in comparison 😭

@Sarah yes I was induced and had already had an epidural. The doctor wasn't even in the room when my daughter got stuck due to having her hand by her face so the emergency buzzer got pulled. When the Dr came straight in it was a case of forceps or theatre so we went with forceps x

@Naomi I'm so sorry 😞 my 3rd born also had her fist on her cheek on her way out. She got a bit stuck at her shoulder because of it but we were both fine.. my first 2 were traumatic in hospital. They don't tell you statistically how bad inductions can be when they're not absolutely necessary ❤️ I hope you're both fully recovered from all of that trauma!

@Sarah thank you x she's 5 now and thriving. Mentally I don't think I ever recovered properly which is why I chose a c section with my second the thought of giving birth again terrified me. Tbh I wish I had more facts about things when I had my first but we live and learn x

@Naomi it was my 3rd birth that healed my trauma from my prior 2. My 3rd was my first home water birth. It was amazing ❤️ I totally understand where you would choose a section after your first experience! It's also so so hard though 😭 you have amazing strength to have gone through those experiences ❤️

@Naomi thanks for sharing. When you say you wish you had more facts about things the first time around, what exactly do you mean? Did you not know exactly what the use of forceps meant? Or that you could ask for a c section in that situation? Or something else ? Sorry first time confused mum here ❤️

More facts about induction and the risks etc. I was told it was what was best for me and baby so I went into induction not knowing all of the risks. Also yes at the time it was an emergency so other than getting my consent to use forceps I wasn't given great detail of what would happen. But overall it saved my daughter's life so I'm OK with that x
