I had both. The week after both I found tough, but then was a lot more mobile and comfortable. However, I found complete healing took a lot longer with the emergency section. My daughter was stuck and the section was after a horrible labour, which really took it out of me. I felt very achey until about 6months pp. I felt back to normal with the planned by about 6 weeks, I think.

I had a planned section on Monday and was home within 24 hours. I’m mobile and mostly using paracetamol for any pain but I definitely feel I’ve gotten lucky with my recovery so far but I’d definitely do it again next time xx
I've had one emergency and two planned csections. I think the recovery was about the same although this time they put morphine in my spinal to help me with pain management the first 24 hours and that did seem to help some. But a planned csection is so much easier than an emergency one over all. My guest was traumatic due to my epidural failing during the surgery.... the spinal blocks were so much better and everything was so calm and easy.
How "emergent" was it? I had a category 3 c section after a week of being induced as well. It's classed as an emergency & from saying we will do it, to the actual surgery was a couple of hours. Max they would wait was 6-12 hours. I wouldn't class mine as an emergency, although I understand that my risks were heightened due to stress & possible infection markers. For me, recovery was annoying (just because I'm ridiculously independent, and didn't enjoy not being able to sit up by myself) but otherwise okay
With an emergency you are often recovering from labour and surgery, never mind the stress etc on top. With electives they are generally planned, calmer and easier to recover from. I chose an elective first time and would have another in a heartbeat for any more kids we have. Born 13.27, eating dinner and walking that evening, home mid afternoon the following day. Everything doable slowly and carefully the first week or so... and gradually everything gets better each day.
I think it’s different for everyone tbh. My first was emergency after a 5 day induction/labor and my recovery was an absolute breeze. I recently had a planned c-section with my second, and while it was also a fairly quick recovery it did take a bit longer (like 5 weeks instead of 2 to be completely ‘back to normal’), and I have a little shelf thing above the scar this time which is super annoying & I can’t get rid of
