C-section infection

I’m 6 weeks post planned c-section and am currently on my third round of antibiotics for an infection in my incision. The hospital swabbed my infection and it came back positive for MRSA - it was resistant to the initial round of broad spectrum by antibiotics they gave me so I was prescribed some which it would respond to. The infection seemed to get better although didn’t fully clear and a small hole has opened up at the edge of the incision and is weeping (they’ve swabbed again) so have put me on different antibiotics. Anyone else been through something similar? I’m so fed up and just can’t see light at the end of this infection tunnel.

Omg, I could almost write it myself, sorry you are going through this! I’m 5 weeks pp, and also had an infection that didn’t not respond to broad spectrum antibiotics. I also feel like it all could have been caught earlier, but my private midwife kept saying that it looked fine despite my doubts until I just went in myself and was prescribed my first round of antibiotics. Anyway, it wasn’t getting better, so I went to the hospital where they took a swab, and a few days later put me on different antibiotics. Last week the nurse in the wound clinic took another swab just in case…but the results are nowhere to be found. Clinic says it should be with the GP and the GP practice days it should be at the clinic since they don’t have anything. Since last week I also have an opening on one side, and I am absolutely terrified and still in pain. It really feels like there is no end to this. Plus my PGP is still going strong, it is frustrating and exhausting. I hope you get better soon!

@Alona I’m so sorry you’re going through something similar. Totally get what you mean about feeling like there is no end in sight. I’m terrified about what’s next……how many different rounds of antibiotics can they put me on before we have to do something else? And what is that something else? The antibiotics have given my breastfed daughter oral thrush (thankfully she doesn’t seem to be in pain) but it’s causing me some major discomfort. So I’m just miserable for multiple reasons xxx

This was a year ago but with me I caught sepsis and I was in hospital for a month. Antibiotics didn't work and thry cut me open because it would not heal and I had a huge gaping hole. A pipe down under for 3 weeks and a pipe down my nose. The most horrible expereince. But after a month they got it under control and sent me home with a small hole and antibiotics took about another 4 weeks to heal.

I had the exact same thing. I did two rounds of different antibiotics and they packed the hole with gauze and had to get my dressings changed every few days. I’m 10 weeks PP and can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there. 💖
