Childminder or nursery?

Any particular reason why?

So ours is technically a childminder but she has 2 assistants. So there’s 3 staff and 9 children under 3. It’s in an out building at the bottom of her garden so has a home away from home feeling and a smaller group than a nursery but has more security than a childminder. Baby settled really easily and that’s the right balance/ fit for us 😊

I chose a nursery as I feel there is more accountability, also think there are procedures in place to ensure both safety and a range of activities with defined learning outcomes.

Nursery as there’s options to still send them if someone is off sick. With a childminder, if they’re off unwell, you don’t have any fall back. It also gets them used to a bigger social setting with kids their own age. Childminders have less children and different age ranges to activities can be difficult to tailor to specific age groups like nurseries can to support development x

I have been debating this since My Lg was born and I am Finally going with nursery .. no one is watching the childminder she can put them jnfrom of the tv all Day she can have no dbs checked visitors .. you have to Go on holiday when she goes on holiday If she is sick no one to cover her ..

We went for nursery because I have one right next door to my work and when we went for a tour we loved how happy all the kids looked and liked the activities they do, schedule they have in place etc. We also would have looked at childminders but all our local ones weren't offering places far enough in advance and the nursery was already almost fully booked so we had to decide quickly

If you have any childminder questions I can help. I left my job and set up as a childminder so I could be with my daughter/still earn. It’s waaay more regulated than you might think and happy to answer some questions. We didn’t want to send our daughter to a nursery for lots of different reasons.

Childminder, it's much more relaxed and my childminder did everything a nursery did, she assessed them like a school would. She did trips out , themed weeks every week etc. My son definitely benefitted from the 1 on 1 learning and could read books from 3yrs. I just didn't like the idea of a nursery and I'll do the same with my daughter. Also saved me some money too xx
