Is it possible that your body just can’t go into labour on its own?

I got induced last time at 42 weeks and this time in overdue again by 4 days. I’ve had loads of signs but it just feels like it will never happen on its own and baby is already measuring 97th percentile so I’m under a lot of pressure to get it out. They’re also assuming I have developed late gestational diabetes but apparently the tests are inconclusive this late.

You won't be pregnant forever and your body and baby knows when its ready to give birth ❤️

There's few studies relating to spontaneous birth post 42 weeks as hospitals push so heavily for induction. The ones out there though and mostly positive and showbetter outcomes for mum and baby wellbeing. Induction is still your choice, you can always opt for monitoring to check things like placenta function and blood flow however nhs are still likely to push come 40 +10. Just research what you can and make a decision your comfortable with x

@Sîan thanks, I was like this last time but then when my son weighed almost 11 pounds, I can’t really ignore their size concerns 🙈 I just want my body to start labouring on its own this time but don’t know how long I should give it size wise

Completely understand the reservations 🤍 how was his birth? (you don't have to say) usually it's unlikely for your body to grow a baby you can't birth unless it's due to other circumstances eg uncontrolled diabetes. I birthed my 10lb 2os boy at home last week, not 11lb bit still a good size 😂 My sisters first was over 10lbs but then her 2nd was under 8lb so you never truly know anyway x

I’ve asked myself this question too! I had my first born at 41+5 after a sweep that broke my waters and then had to be induced and it all ended in an emergency c section. This time around I’m opting for a VBAC and trying not to intervene at all but it is sooo hard when you feel like you could go forever with being pregnant. I didn’t have any signs of incoming labour with my first and I haven’t with this pregnancy. I keep telling myself nobody stays pregnant, nature is wise, trust, it’s only a matter of days… I must confess though that some days are much easier than others. Some are full of doubts and fears but I’m trying to let go and trust nature and my body have this! Stay strong! ❤️❤️❤️

@Sîan I didn’t get anywhere with pushing so it ended with forceps and epsiotomy and then quite bad post partum haemorrhage. I’ve always agreed that you can’t birth a baby too big for you but even though my diabetes test at 28 weeks came back clear, the consultant is assuming I have it as baby has gone from 90th percentile to 97th since my 36 week scan and so it is worrying me a little more now
