Applying for the reception school

Hello, I have 3 years old girl who turns 4 next January and she is my first child, so I have no idea what to do for applying for the reception school. I live in Gateshead, but has this started yet? Is there anything I should do?

Applications should come out soon, you normally can apply in October and the deadline is usually like middle of January. If you go on the GOV website and look for school admissions 2025 then it will tell you:)) my youngest was 4 this July and we applied October 2023 and got our school place April 2024, turned 4 in the July and started September. So 2025 applications should already be able to apply for now xx

Usually you start going to open days / evenings about now to get a feel for different schools. Then you apply by January.
