I went in at 11am started my process at 1pm I was already a cm dialated but cervix was still tucked at the back. The whole process took about 30 minutes, them trying to grab my cervix was quite uncomfortable but once they grabbed it and found it the insertion didn't really hurt at all. They accidentally broke my water whilst doing it which was the whole point so they took them straight back out so my whole induction lasted me 40 minutes in total. They left me to it and check my cervix 4hrs later and I was 2cm dialted but my cervix were now favourable. I had very mild cramping but nothing prominent or consistent, I really wanted to avoid the drip so they just tried to leave me and see if I would progress naturally. When it came round to my 12am checks I had developed a fever and my babies heart rate was in the 170s and having decels. They took me down to delivery ward and then decided that an emergency c section was the best course of action as the drip could make babies heart rate worse.

They went through the procedure with me reassured me the entire time let me ask my questions had the anaesthetist go through the spinal with me. They held my hand the entire process constantly reassuring me as I was so scared but honestly for an terrifying experience it couldn't have gone better. Ik this doesn't sound like a positive story but so many inductions regardless of method end in c section and it's good to hear that it can still be a positive experience regardless of it not ending how you want. If u have any more questions or want me to go into more detail just drop me a message. But if I had to have an induction again i would still 100% have the dialpan, the sucess rate is 90% compared to pessary which is only 7% xx

@Willow thank you! I had a pessary with my first baby which led to hyper stimulation of the uterus and my sons heart rate dropping and an eventual emergency c-section so I’m trying to avoid any kind of hormonal induction. I’m 41 weeks so waiting for labour to start spontaneously is getting less likely and trying to weigh up my options and dilapan/breaking waters is pretty much my only choice.. let’s see! Thank you this has been helpful xxx
