Don’t rely on the hospitals to provide anything for you. In my experience they have things as back up but you are expected to take it with you. From memory I took, For me: - button pjs and nighties -thin dressing gown as hospitals can get hot - flip flops for the shower and because after birth I was so swollen so couldn’t wear my shoes - toiletries for shower/ hairbrush/ hair bobbles/ toothbrush - maternity pads - BIG pants or disposable pants I used the frida mom ones - breast pads - spritz for bits - comfy clothes like joggers etc to go home in - dark coloured towel for shower -extra long phone charger lead - snacks and Lucozade sport (they provide meals but I needed these during labour for energy) For baby: - nappies -wipes - pre made formula with the disposable teats (I was formula feeding) - several vests & sleepsuits I took different sizes - going home outfit - hat -blankets -muslin -dummy I ended up staying in longer than planned so glad I packed extra. Hope this helps x
@Jessica in the uk they don’t provide everything unfortunately x
And don’t forget chapstick!
Just to add to these lists a few things I couldn’t have done without were wireless headphones (I had hypnobirthing tracks playing in my ears the whole time), a couple of flannels (one I could hold to keep me cool and an old one was used by midwife to apply pressure on perinium area when pushing) and a tens machine (put this on as soon as your contractions start). Oh and some packets of sweets for during and after labour for an energy boost. Good luck! Xx
If your midwife unit / hospital offers a tour, you could do that and ask. Your midwife might also be able to help. Often I think they do like to use certain blankets etc so they have easy access to the baby for examinations, and I’ve seen people say make sure you only take what you can carry so your partner doesn’t have to go back and forth. Oh and pack with your birth partner so you don’t have to point out what’s where when you’re dealing with 109 other things!
I wouldn’t expect them to give you anything at hospital except for a bed, sheets and meds if you need them lol
I had mine ready at 32 weeks
