With my first baby I had a sweep done when I wasn’t dilated at all and my cervix was still really high and it was so so painful - then during my induction I had my waters broken when I was 1-2cm and the pain from that was honestly worse than pushing to me 😅 I think it seemed more painful because your body isn’t necessarily ready for it yet and whilst labour is painful your body is in the rhythm of what’s happening and sort of just takes over and it’s not as bad in a way? I guess because the pain at that point feels more productive. That’s how I felt anyway!
I think I had my sweep with my first at 38 weeks as that’s just when my midwife app landed and would say it was uncomfortable and probably wouldn’t have it done again if I was offered. Nothing happened post sweep
I had a failed one at 38 weeks. Had another at 38+4 that was successful after several days of bouncing on a ball and walking as far as my body will allow me. At the second one they said I was 1-2 cm dilated and at the first one they couldn't do anything my cervix was so far back and not at all ready.
That happened with my first and I remember thinking how much it hurt, it just means baby and body aren’t quite ready.
