I've looked into it because I was curious as a cell biologist. However, we've decided not to as it seems very expensive to do and store and it just didn't seem to outweigh the benefits!
@Loren I agree, I have lost my elder brother two years ago due to leukemia and was told that in the next few years, stem cells could treat conditions like his as extensive research is being carried out. So, it's an option I really want to consider after losing a precious family member
@Sam I think it affects only cord blood not cord tissue. I was told that it could be delayed up to 60sec to get enough for cord blood banking. So I am thinking of considering this option as it might benefit the baby in the future.
