I didn't know which doctor was doing mine until the morning of the section. She was lovely and I had a consultation with her right before. I had a good experience with mine x
I had a failed induction so they scheduled me in for a section. I didn’t know anyone doing it other than the anesthetist who spoke to me the day before. I was at Luton. No one even spoke to me about what to expect during it or afterwards I just had to go with the flow but I had no complications and they couldn’t have got a straighter line
Same as Leanne, I found out the morning of, had a consultation before! Personally I didn’t know any surgeons beforehand so I didn’t have a preference. Mine was lovely and answered any questions I had x
Thank you, so it seems its a normal procedure to not really meet or know the Dr before the operation.
@Elizabeth that’s why I had a c section too I didn’t realize how badly recovery hurts tho 🥲
@Hannah ah my hospital stay was traumatically hilarious I still make jokes about it now 😂😂 other than no coughing, sneezing or drinks going down the wrong hole it wasn’t too bad imo
@Elizabeth I wanted to cry everytime I had to sit up or walk
It’ll be whichever doctor is on call on maternity that day
I’ve had 3 sections at Barnet hospital & never known the surgeons name. All 3 went well & were really positive x
@Georgia thanks, how was the ward, was it very busy? I heard 6 women in one room!
I didn't meet my doctor until I was already in the OR and ready to go. They had three c sections back to back. She popped around the curtain and said hello them immediately started. She was super nice and checked on me after.
My hospital the team doing the c sections that day come round and introduce themselves and then the anesthetist came and spoke about what would happen in detail. So I knew the doctors and midwife's name who were doing my op/taking care of baby in theatre and then I was familiar with the anesthetist team too c
It’s always the Doctor on call, so I mean you could try and ask a staffer what Doc will be on call that day 🤷🏾♀️ Most docs are pretty non descript and nothing to worry about, it’s the senior resident you should be concerned with.
@Leila WTF???!! That’s WILD, HIPPA. Here we have private rooms.

In the UK it’s pretty standard procedure to not know who it’s going to be beforehand
My c-section was planned. I had high blood pressure, high amniotic fluid and my baby was positioned sideways. She was delivered at 37 weeks and perfectly healthy. My OB had performed the surgery and handled the delivery. Was the best decision for me with having the c-section! I was very nervous as I didn’t know of anyone else who had a c-section and what to expect, but it went extremely well. Best of luck!
Hi love ! Just to give you some reassurance: I had an emergency c-section, I knew nothing about, I was so unprepared! However Ikeep a great souvenir, it is not that bad, the scar is clean, the nurses were so supportive and helpful! I am not in Ldn but in Dubai where most of the nurses and midwives are from the UK. And technically I knew my OB but I just picked her last minute bc I was 9months pregnant and I wanted to change 😂 so didn’t knew about her really she was just here and all went really well ! It’s their job, they did it numerous amounts of section, you have nothing to worry about. Best of luck !!
Thank you all for sharing your experience, its so reassuring. Thank you.😍
@Leila It is about 6 beds! My last baby was September & it was only me with 3 other women the rest of the beds were empty. I can’t complain everyone was respectful & quiet x
My ob was suppose to deliver my baby but I had an emergency c section with a doctor I barely knew but I asked the nurses a lot of questions about the procedure and about the doctor and everything went good
