Health anxiety and Instagram

I’m struggling at the moment. I have developed pretty bad health anxiety since having my little one. It feels like everytime I scroll my Instagram something comes up to tell me how bad a product is…. Washing detergent and cleaning products being a big one, tap water , seems like everything!! It’s making my anxiety so bad as I’m constantly scared to use certain products and makes me feel like I need to swap everything. I’m so scared of doing or using the wrong thing and it causing my little boy harm. 😭 I don’t even think this post makes any sense, but felt like I needed to empty my brain

Makes totally sense! I’ve struggled really bad with this at times and literally thrown everything away and spent ridiculous amounts on products that are ‘supposedly’ better for us. In all honestly this country is pretty good for not using things that are totally horrendous for us! Hopefully it’s helps to know you’re not the only one. I read something that said about kids all ending up eating McDonald’s in the end no matter what you wean them with. A happy medium is best and less stress 😊 Try not to read into things to much otherwise you really do end up down a rabbit hole!

@Natalie Thankyou, really helps to know I’m not the only one. Honestly I end up searching and searching . But I have no idea what I should do or use. I swapped to kit and kin but the clothes never smell clean. They smell worse if anything and stains don’t come out either.

Oh man - if it makes you feel better, I have anxiety/OCD about different issues to do with my little boy, and I have literally never seen any of the posts you mention above. So it's not you! + you're right, it's probs not rational. It's definitely the Instagram algorithm targeting you and trying to sell you things. I find something that has kind of helped me a bit, whenever I see a new product or post being pushed to me and get in a thought spiral about it, is to think "Well, that might be true, but..." before thinking anything else? Come up with the opposite or alternative idea as a thought exercise. And that kind of snaps me out of it a bit. The other thing that works is getting off Instagram 😆 I've got a time limiter on mine rn

@Lucy Thankyou so much , feel like it’s only me and I drive my self crazy with it. Xxx
