How do I stop blaming myself and having such mom guilt for my son getting diagnosed with ASD?

Hey mamas first thing first you need to breathe. My son was diagnosed this year and I was finally able to breathe. The way my son was acting , how different he was. Now we are finally getting his services and the transformation is incredible. It’s not your fault, it will never be your fault. Your baby is amazing and will do amazing things. Take this diagnosis and find the services in your area to help your baby thrive

@Tatianna Can I ask what services he is getting? My son wasn’t diagnosed yet because he’s only two and his pediatrician is getting a referral for an assessment. But she said he has the signs and “red flags” for it. But he is currently in ST and OT. Just wanted to see what other services I can get my son into while we are waiting

@Danielle of course so now my son is in speech, OT, ABA and early head start, we also have looked into at home therapy to help with behavioral issues

@Tatianna what’s ABA? I think I know what Head Start is if that’s an early childhood education program? We have something called head start here in NC. He does his ST and OT at home. He also has some behavior issues with pulling hair so I’m wondering if we can get OT to help with that.

@Danielle it means Applied Behavior Analysis and it helps with social skills, behavior issues, emotions, etc

It’s not your fault momma. ❤️ it’s not anyone’s fault. Please know that. You’re a wonderful mom, and you love your child. It gets better as they get services and get older. I promise. Sending you a big hug.
