I am so sorry for your loss, I lost my dad a while ago and he never got to meet his grandsons 💔 which always breaks my heart. Age appropriate books, such as my grandad is a star or The goodbye book are recommended. Feelings books are great too to show your LO, it’s ok to be sad when you miss them or feel happy when you remember the good times together. A photo album with pictures of them both in is wonderful to open up conversations and help reminisce and keep memories alive. My advice would be to use simple language and not to use analogies like “they’re asleep now. They are at peace now” as toddlers won’t understand this. Give yourself time and be kind to yourself as you’re managing your grief too. Use your support system to have time out and navigate your new life without your father and don’t feel guilty for crying or grieving in your own way. There’s no right or wrong way to grieve and it does get easier to cope with the loss in time. Sending you so much love and comfort🤍
it’s just hard having him ask for him almost daily but on the flip side i don’t want him tos top because at least will still remember him, such a catch 22
I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through, I am so so sorry for your loss. My little one dotes on my dad too and he is my world so I can only begin to imagine. I don't know what would be right but I always try and be age appropriate honest with my daughter rather than try and protect her with stories. I would probably go along the line of "grandad can't come back but shall we talk about when we went to the farm and look at the pictures we took" etc xx
