Induction

Got an induction date for little man he’s coming a week earlier but they haven’t discussed what pain relief I want and what I want as birth? Is this something they’ve missed out on? I did ask but they just showed me induction papers

I'm currently going through an induction and in the induction suite they can only offer you paracetamol and codeine but then when on labour ward they said I'd be able to get gas and air, epidural and pethidine etc Not sure if all hospitals are the same though!

I was induced last week. Induction suite (they didn't do much for me there, no actual drip etc) I had paracetamol and Codeine. Then for the drip I was moved up to the delivery suite. There I was given the full works! They go through everything with you before hand. In fact my full wishes were gone through with me before anything really kick started so I was still able to concentrate on questions and decisions etc. They double checked things and then double checked things for baby (skin to skin, vit k etc) after birth before doing anything. You have to agree again before being given anything anyway. ( I was given an epidural as I was 3 days no sleep by that point, not able to stay completely conscious. Doctor had to hold my focus and I was encouraged to stay awake just so he could hear me agree to him. So I wouldn't be concerned. 😊

@Hayley I think that’ll be the same for me too , just was hoping for choice for water birth , c section or just normal birth 😂🙈

@Bethan I’ve got it all in my head how I wanted my birth for my baby to go but I don’t think I have a choice if they haven’t mentioned anything 🙈

@Lauren-Marie I wanted a water birth too, they said there's still the possibility I can go in the pool still if it's available. But they also have a bath available in general to help with the pains x

I suppose there is other women that got the choice to have water birth and whatever they chose 🙈 I don’t get it all this I thought we would of got a choice what we wanted for birth and pain relief , I’m a newbie to all this 🙈🥰

@Lauren-Marie You absolutely have a choice but it does depend on what’s available when you go in! Sadly we had our little girl on one of the busiest weeks for babies in the hospital (apparently!) so a lot of our choices went out the window. That being said, they won’t discuss labour plans fully until you’re on the labour ward but you can definitely make the midwife aware of your wishes x
