Episiotomy stitches

I got an episiotomy and its been 3 weeks now. The initial pain and soreness is gone but the area sometimes feels itchy and sometimes stings when i pee. I tried to feel down there and i could feel some raised pointy things. They didnt hurt to touch but idk what it is. Is it stiches or scar tissue? And is it supposed to feel like that? Any help would be appreciated

Itchiness is likely healing, watch out for any bad smells or pus etc that could mean infection. Have you tried using a mirror to have a look? Be warned, it's not pretty at this point and you'll still be very bruised 😅 The stitches likely haven't dissolved yet so that's probably what you can feel.

You just need to give it time, 3 weeks isn't long at all. Just keep an eye out for infection, keep the area clean etc:)

I'm still finding I'm in pain with light tightness is the only way I can describe it also still weeping (clear though). I'm only 2 weeks PP so good to know it's still in process, I have a midwife appt next week I'm going to ask her to give me a check over. The leaflets say give it 8 weeks which seems ages but 🤷‍♀️

I had an episiotomy with my first and a 2nd degree tear with my second, the episiotomy took A LOT longer to heal than the natural tear so give it time! Probably around 8 weeks before it felt normal wheras my tear was healed and felt fine within 3

I had an episiotomy and was lucky that I didn’t have too much pain afterwards more discomfort for the first week and then started to feel fine after that but did have what you’re describing for the first 8 weeks or so it still felt tender/ tight at times and found it a bit painful the first couple of times my partner and I had sex but it does ease off eventually. The raised bits your feeling are probably your stitches. I would just have a little look to check things are looking ok just be prepared that it’s not a pretty sight this soon after birth 😂 Or you can ask your HV for advice x
