Getting Induced

I’m getting induced at 38+1 due to GD so I’m having a November baby rather than early December ☺️ Currently 35w, scan in two weeks then induction the week after 😳 it’s becoming so real! I can’t believe I’m going to have a baby in my arms in potentially 3weeks time!! I’m going to stay in this group just a little longer incase plans change ☺️

They've mentioned it might be a possibility for me at my midwife appointment this morning as well for the same reason. Getting very close

Best of luck Adele!! Keep us updated 😍🥹

Do you mind me asking how big baby is measuring? I’m 36 weeks with GD and got scan next week but no one has really mentioned induction or c section

Hey Kirsty ☺️ baby was 5lbs at my scan. Measuring just under a week than what I actually am. I think it depends on how you’re doing. I was spoken to by a doctor about all the pros and cons to induction and c-section. As well as natural progression. With induction there’s a higher risk of needing a c-section but I’m open to anything personally. They either use the balloon method after assessing you on your day of induction and break your waters or they use a tablet up there 😅 to soften your cervix first so they can then break your waters. Induction can take some time and they might have to give you a few doses but the wait period is 24hrs for each tablet. I asked about pain management and she told me I’m still open to any method I choose. So that’s wonderful, I also like the idea of being in hospital while going through it all. They will probably start the discussion with you on your next appointment and what you feel most comfortable doing. Good luck! I hope I’ve sort of helped☺️

@Agata will do ☺️ thank you!

@Adele thank you Adele that’s really helpful. At my last scan baby was measuring 6lb 4!! So I’m guessing at my scan next week they will definitely discuss the options of induction or c section. I may have to start having a proper think about what to do. I’ll be 37 weeks at my next scan
