Always feeling super depressed and anxious before period. How to calm myself down?

I’ve always struggled with depression and anxiety but have got it under control within the past year. I notice I feel worse about 1-2 weeks before my period. Sometimes it’s more anger and other types it’s more anxiety. I often loose my appetite and become overwhelmed easily. I also get hot flashes and can’t seem to calm myself down. What can I do? I already take medication for my depression but I hate this feeling. Also going to get the implant (nexplanon) tomorrow should I mention these feelings to my doctor? Any ideas?

I personally would. I was similar before going on the implant and it made it SO much worse. Once the implant was fitted I was extremely suicidal. Obviously it can affect everyone differently, so you might be absolutely fine with it but I would make sure they're aware.

Definitely mention your feelings to the doctor. My period made me extremely depressed (I already had depressive episodes before) but my period made me feel suicidal . Talk to your doctor, please!

Talk to your doctor! There’s actually ssri’s that can help with pmdd!

I have PMDD and had some similar symptoms that led to my diagnosis! I did end up going on an SNRI (Effexor) because my symptoms started including SI and feeling out of control, and that has helped me so so much.
