elective csection

hi! so i’ve been wanting a natural birth for the longest of times but now im 38 weeks i just feel like maybe a section is the best option for me… the midwife couldn’t tell if he was breech again (he was at 34 weeks but 2/5 engaged at 36) so im having to have a scan tomorrow, ive noticed his movements have become reduced the past week and im surprised no one has brought up induction/csection when ive been checked. how do i elect for a csection? is it worth bringing it up tomorrow when i have my presentation scan or should i wait till my original midwife is back from holiday as i had someone new just for today’s appointment. thank you x

I had an appointment this week with my community midwife and she was happy with natural labour. I simply just said I’d like a c section, one reason being I’ve got a broken rib. I can’t move never mind push a baby out and just for my own peace of mind for other reasons. She didn’t even question me, she just booked me an appointment with an obstetrician to discuss and book a section. definitely bring it up, it shouldn’t be an issue x

@Rheo oh my that must be awful!! i couldn’t imagine how hard it is carrying a baby and having a broken rib bless you😫. thank you so much for the advice! i’ve just been feeling a section would probably be the best bet for me right now, the thought of natural birth is just overwhelming to me at this point as much as i’d love to have natural i just feel so overwhelmed and overstimulated at the thought of it xx

You might be able to get one - but I’m 38 weeks and have had it booked for next week for over 2 weeks now. Might depend on how busy they are in your area as they like to do them at 39 weeks. If you’re sure, I’d call them first thing. Good luck x

@Libby yes it is very painful I can’t move, especially as she’s got her feet on the side of the break. You should definitely bring it up they should take your wishes into consideration xx

If that is what you would like then you go for it and ask. I would say at the next available opportunity. Even if they can’t help with it at the scan, at least you tried because they might be able to refer you to someone to get it changed. Add it to your badger noted birth plan and maybe reach out to the actual midwife unit? Just so you can get it sorted as soon as for yourself
