Anyone switched from nursery to childminder?

Lo not settling in at nursery and doesn't seem themselves there takes while when get home for personality to come back. Wondering if would be better in smaller home setting of a childminder. Anyone made the switch?

How long have they been at nursery? It takes a good 6-8 weeks if not longer to settle.

@Caroline 3 months now

That's tough! How many days do they go? Have they been off sick a lot?

So not switched as such but we use technically a childminder but she has 2 assistants so 3 adults to 9 children 3 and under in a purpose built outhouse. My baby had never been left anywhere before and he settled instantly, has an excellent bond with his main carer and overall we’re really happy with our choice. I wonder is there something similar near you? For us it’s the perfect balance of more than one caregiver and not having to worry about a childminder calling sick etc but also baby mixing with enough other children and they do lots of lovely activities the same way they would at nursery just in a more home from home environment they sleep inside the house in cots for example with white noise, no pressure to drop a nap like I know is common in lots of nurseries x

@Caroline 2 days, hasn't been off sick but has had a few colds in that time

@Yasmin thanks for that, that's why I went with nursery because of sickness, holidays etc but didnt think they might have setup to cover this. Starting to think maybe home environment would suit her better. My neighbour babysits her on the day I couldn't get her in nursery and she seems to have taken to being there straight away tho she does treat her like her granddaughter and seems herself when pick her up from there and is napping and eating fine whereas at nursery not napping great until she gets too tired and crashes out on floor and is being picky eater there if eats at all whereas at home is real foodie. Thinking one main carer and smaller setting may suit her better. Gives me food for thought to see if have something similar here

My little one has never been babysat by anyone else, has been to a childminder twice now and both times he has been absolutely textbook! I initially wanted to send him to a nursery but looked at every single one locally and just couldn’t settle with any of them, so this shows how high my expectations are! I dont think I’ll ever move him to a nursery setting, maybe for pre-school only x

How did you go about searching childminder? Would it be via ofsted?
