C section girlies, have you started massaging yout scar?

I know I should have a while back really but I've been avoiding it because the thought of touching it cringes me out a bit.. If you are, where did you find info on scar massage (techniques, for how long etc etc?). Also mine appears to have become keloid when I've never scarred in this way before so any info on this if you've experienced this or your scar has too and how you're treating it would be helpful!

No, I’m the same as you, I really need to have a go as mine is still so numb. But that’s partly why I can’t face doing it as it feels so strange. You’d think the GP might have gone over it on the 6 week check, I mean mine barely even looked at my scar! 🙄

I need to. Mine feels partly numb on one side and it freaks me out to touch it 🤦🏼‍♀️ I did ask the doctor though as mine did look dented but it seems to have flattened out. I would just see if the GP can check it over for you.

@Zoe my gp gave me a phone call as my post op 🤦‍♀️ I’ve massaged once or twice and tried using those c section moisturiser strips but not frequently

Wait what... nobody ever told me to massage it? I've had check ups and everything and they said it all looks fine but now I'm panicking 😅

I've just bought a c-section correction kit online and I'm seeing a scar massage therapist to help desensitise it as I can't bear the thought of touching it at the moment 🤢

I did not know I was supposed to be massaging it 🫣🥴

First c section I probably waited 6 months before I could touch the scar… second section I started to massage around it quite early and then built up the courage to massage the scar. I got insta spammed by naydaya scar cream and honestly thjnk it’s really good! They have a video aswell on how to massage but essentially you have to do whatever is comfortable for you. Start around the area if you are nervous and slowly build up to the scar x

I started at 6 weeks pp, mine is no longer numb any where, however if you miss a few massages it can hurt to start again. To start you can start of very lightly, on top of clothing and gradually work your way down to the skin as you get more comfortable. I don't apply anything, as I want to keep it as dry as possible. I go from my belly button to down below the scar. I move the skin in all directions, pulling, circles, pinching up wards, light fingers (tigiling). Don't just start by going to the scar, work your way up to it as you feel more comfortable. I am now very very comfortable and pinch, pull and do deep vacuum massage too. You can even try cupping. You go harder in the areas where there are lumps, hardness or 'knots' I love doing the massage as it feels so much better after wards. I aim for everyday. The aim to prevent adhesion and to make stretching comfortable. And of course no shelf.

I started at like 10 weeks to try and help me ‘accept’ it more. (It was an emergency section). I use the NAYDAYA balm and it’s so good, my scar has really faded well and I also use it on stretch marks
