I had what was referred to as a small second degree tear did require stitches witch hazel pads and numbing spray helped only really bothered me for 3 or 4 days though and even then it sucked but it was manageable
I heard perineal massage might help Although I haven’t done it and my due date is near so I am concerned as well
Small 1st degree tear. Not too bad.
@VEA was it your first child?
My first I had a 2nd degree internal tear only. They did a couple stitches. The numbing spray (dermaplast) and witch hazel pads were provided at the hospital and seemed to help manage pain. I was feeling relatively normal about a week afterwards
Ive Actually been doing perineal Massage since 30 weeks along with pelvic floor therepy- and a bunch of stretches. Most times It’s covered under insurance so I would Highly advise … a lot of women don’t know about it till after their first baby… I figure if it doesn’t work at least I tried
@aman kaur read below-
Tylenol and ibuprofen every 6 hours on the dot, dermaplast, and consistent use of the peri bottle when going to the bathroom.
Surprisingly I did not tear and delivered a 7lb 7oz 20in baby! I tore a little with my first and she was 6lbs even. The only thing I can think of that maybe helped is (tmi) just how active my husband and I were, along with the way my dr helped stretch me out during delivery. I did not see it but definitely felt her open me up pretty wide. I also didn’t push, I coughed!
@Genesys did you get the epidural?
@Genesys Same!!! I surprisingly didn’t tear either! This was my first. 7.2 lbs boy! My doctor also did the perineal massage after every push and I think that helped me 👏🏼👏🏼
@Genesys omg this is almost exact same for me! I just delivered my 7lb 9oz 20in boy and didn’t tear, no epidural and my first was a girl 6lbs 6oz where I tore slightly and got 2 stitches.
@aman kaur second
Needed an episiotomy and still in pain. Using all the things (witch hazel pads, numbing spray, ibuprofen, ice packs) and not much seems to be helping🥲
