What to do about contractions??

Hey guys, I’m 34 w rn and I have been have really bad contractions for the past two days, the first day I had to go to L&D because of how bad they were. They gave me muscle relaxers, told me I was 1 cm dilated on the outside cervix and sent me on my way. Even with the muscle relaxers they’ve been pretty bad, they come off and on through out the whole day worse after like 5pm and I wake up contracting. The contractions are strong enough to concern people around me and I’ve screamed a good couple times hours after taking the meds. I just don’t understand anything 1) how do I even count these 2) when do I go in 3) non-FTM’s did your water broke / bleed before going in with you 1st 4) should I be having contractions like this at 34 weeks

Following because I’m going through the same and need answers

I am also having contractions for the past two days ! I’m 34+5 days and the first night they gave me a shot to stop the contractions. Second day I got them again went to the hospital and they gave me a shot to help baby’s lung development if I give birth before 37 weeks! Dec baby’s really want to be November baby’s ❤️ and sometimes you get contractions weeks before due date! But if you are dilating then baby wants to come out

With my first, they stopped my labor two separate times and the second time I spent about a week in the hospital. They gave me a shot to mature her lungs awhile being there just in case. My contractions never really caused dilation. I was sent home and two days after my water broke ☺️ my healthy daughter was born at 35 weeks with no NICU stay ❤️

Make sure you’re drinking enough water, maybe try an electrolyte drink. Dehydration is a common cause for Braxton hicks. You’re only 34 weeks so you want to try to do everything you can to keep your baby in for at least another 3 weeks.

@Victoria I been drinking so much water and I pee a lot and some how I’m still dehydrated and need IV ! I don’t get it I drink so much water that’s all I drink with my meals

@Ale lol I get the struggle mama! I’m bad with drinking water in general so it’s harder for me during pregnancy. Our bodies need a lot of water during pregnancy, but also electrolytes to balance it out. During my first pregnancy I drank one packet of “hydro mom” by boobie a day on top of regular water, and I really never got any Braxton hicks. Coconut water is also great! Unfortunately I have gestational diabetes this time around so I have to just stick to regular water.

@Ale what @Victoria said isn’t wrong however if your experiencing real contractions that doesn’t apply to you, I know mines are real contractions as well having dilation

@Cece of course go off what your doctors are saying. But you can be 1 cm dilated for weeks, it doesn’t always mean that labor is imminent, in some cases it just means your body is preparing. Braxton kicks can feel very, very real. Either way upping your water intake won’t hurt 😊

I just left the emergency room, they found that I was 1cm dilated and said the cramping, pains, pressure is due to an infection. So I’ll be starting antibiotics this week for 7 days and should feel better and that it was okay to be 1cm dilated but to keep the contractions monitored and dish charge monitored

I downloaded an app to track mine because I’ve been having the same issue as you I’m 35 weeks and a day today the way my doctor told me to track it is from the time I first feel the contraction start to feeling the next one start and if it’s under 5 minutes to go in or if it’s not stopping and I feel pressure. But I am already 3cm dilated as of Wednesday last week.

So, this time around, baby girl (baby 2 is throw in’ me lol. From the beginning I’ve had yellow tinged discharge(I do have a bit of urine incontinence😅🤦‍♀️, thank you to the fact of having kiddos close together (never had that with my 1st- he was TEXT. BOOK. Until the end that is😅🫣🤦‍♀️) baby girl’s alll over the place activity wise (baby boy was what I would consider super chill compared to her lol)… To answer 1 and 2: If your contractions are 5 mins apart, and I think if they last 1 minute each, and it’s been going for 1 hour. Go in. HOWEVER. 3: In my case with my first, I had been leaking amniotic fluid for like 2 days before a friend of mine was like, girl you gotta go in. Like, GO. 😅 I had a partial water breakage and didn’t even know it 😅 Baby boy was fine, he’s now almost 1.5, and his sissy is due Dec. 31st, but I feel like based off of how she’s doin’, she’s gonna follow in her brother’s footsteps and come around 37/37.5 weeks like her older bro did😅 4: with my first, I had

4 continued: With my first I had a lot of Braxton hicks around that time, but not actual contractions- those sound like they are seriously no fun! And the fact that they SENT YOU HOME?! Like what?! That’s MIND BOGGLING to me:/ I’m so sorry this is happening to you!😣❤️
