IBS and being a mam.

Anyone that has IBS,how do you cope with everything on top of being a mum? I’m so worried of getting sick, not being able to go out with my daughter and I get no support from family or her dad. Scared to go out alone in case I get a flare up, scared to go back to work, eat most foods. I’ve made an appointment at the doctors since it’s gotten worse and see what they can do to help. I’m just so tired from getting so sick all of the time, feeling weak and in pain all I want to do is cry. I’m mostly just looking for some support it would be nice to speak to people who are going through this or something similar.

I found which foods were triggers and avoid them. I don’t eat gluten or dairy and limit my fiber intake I still have flare ups and I just have to take my toddler with me if in public. It’s not easy but I manage and do what I have to

I have it also. It’s gotten worse since having my son. At this point all foods are triggers for the pain sometimes the sickness.

I've been dealing with increasingly worse IBS-D since I was 12. Limiting the foods I eat and being aware of what my normal triggers are have helped me be ready to deal with things. It can be sad to only eat rice, potatoes, and chicken most of the time but it does help a lot. If we have to go out I will usually just not eat because I'm worried about having a flare while out. I know there are medications that are recommended for IBS, and things like probiotics and fermented foods can help improve gut health. Hopefully the doctors can help you manage it a little bit.
