Had the same experience…I just decided to say “I’m not doing that with my baby” or “I’ve decided that’s not something I want to do” instead of giving a reason behind it. They made all their decisions out of thin air back then so I figure I don’t need to justify why I decided on something now lol
i think it stems from the fact that we're doing things differently & using all resources available versus just going off their word, which is probably taken offensively bc some older ppl honestly think they know everything lol, keep doing what you think is best <3
Don’t say you got it from Google. I say “my midwife said” or “my paediatrician said” so that’s means a real pro is giving me the advice and not anyone that can write an article or opinion on Google. I don’t even rely on Google. Because lots of symptoms are way overrated and can cause anxiety if you keep reading and it may not even be close. If you wanna fend off the MIL, say the midwife or Dr said this and that not Google. An example Asian elders do is give a couple of tb of water when baby have the hiccups, I simply said the Dr told me no water given until 6m and she didn’t have anything to say back 😂. I would’ve mentioned WHO as well but she doesn’t know what WHO is lol
@Kellie Google will say you have 3 days to live just for having a common cold 😂 it's a bit dramatic
@Riley oh absolutely. Probably written by a uni student claiming as an “expert” 🙄😂
old people logic is "my parents did ______ and I survived" like yeah and the average human lived to 38 back then, Betty, we've learned and evolved since then. 🤦🏻♀️ (no offense to anyone named Betty lol)
