I had a sweep and went in to labour 48hrs after
Really early for a sweep attempt tbh. Not a surprising result as you have to be on your way already for it to do anything and at 38-39 weeks that's not very likely. The good news is that some people from 0-100 in a matter of hours/days
Took three sweeps between 40 and 41 weeks to go into labour for me. Seems unusual for them to do a sweep for you so early!
I had 2 sweeps. 1 at 40+3 which did nothing and 1 at 41 which triggered labour 3 hours later. It will also depend if it was a successful sweep which is usually when they can feel everything and how low baby is. With both of mine they were successful and I had started to dilate. So it might take a little bit more time before it could trigger anything yet
@Robyn I’ve felt a lot of pressure and his head is very far down also had shooting pains up my legs thigh and back and bum, could happen at any time x
If you’re only 38 weeks, I’m surprised they’ve already started sweeping. Most, at least in my area, wait until the 39th week to even suggest things to promote labor. Whatever the case, don’t rush it. Your body is still taking time to adjust to get ready to deliver, even if the baby is ready. :) *hugs* I hope it goes well for you!
Considering this is your second pregnant I don’t think it’s too crazy. I had a sweep at 38+6 with my second and went into labour a few hrs later, I was already at 4cm though 🤷🏻♀️ Keep active, hydrated and baby will come soon x
Every sweep I had with both pregnancies never resulted in labor after 🤪 the only thing that helped me was acupuncture. Good luck! Baby will be on their way soon either way!
Was that your first sweep? It took 2 sweeps for me before I went into labor
