Childcare cost

My son is 2. My daughter is 6. My partner works full time. I would like to start working full time too. At the moment I work 15 hours from home, so we don't need childcare at all. How much on average do you pay for child care? We're not eligible for sure start in our area, I checked today. I'm asking because I would like to know is it worth it for me to go to work full time, or just stay at home for another 2 years until my son can start preschool. Thank you! :)

£49.50 for a full day, includes two meals and two snacks. We're eligible for tax-free childcare and the extra 15% discount from Northern Ireland government as well x

@Lisette so that is the final price with those 2 discounts included? We would be eligible for them too I think :)

@Lisette also, thank you for your reply!! 🙏🥰

No, that is the standard price, so the discounts come off that still. The way we work it is like this: £429 a month for 2 days care a week. Minus the 15% it's then £364.65 a month. We let the TFC (20% with a cap of £500 per quarter) add up in the account until there's enough there for a 'free' month.

It depends where you live where I am it’s £59-69 for a full day. Then you receive the discount from the government scheme.

For 2 days a week, ours is going to be £608 per month (so roughly £68 per day) before the TFC and subsidy so will be £395 with the discounts although the TFC is capped so I believe some months you end up paying a bit more

My LBs nursery rate is £53 for a full day & he goes 3 days - includes everything food wise i just provide his formula and nappies, we have also just signed up to get the TFC & the 15% so will have that from this month👏🏻

Thank you girls! It is so expensive 😶🙈
