@Kinga oh wow big boy! I think because I’ve been so focused on a water birth the thought of not being able to have that scares me quite a bit. Ofc I’ll do whatever is needed if it came to that but I’m a lil bit sad!
My first was 10lb 4 natural delivery but had a sweep at 40 weeks second induction at 8lbs natural too. It is possible. No pain relief either
Yes big boy , now weighting 14.1 pound - 6.4 kg at 7 weeks 4 days . already in 3-6 clothes mostly. I really didn’t want a c-section , wanted a natural birth but didn’t go to plan unfortunately.. you just got to go with an open mind I suppose - good luck momma 😘😘xxxxx
I've been having growth scans as they said my baby would be small but I had a scan on Monday and hes measuring at 5 pounds already I'm 32 weeks. They said that he's in the 97th percentile aswell.. they said about inducing me too! If there is no reason why you have to have a c section then tell them you want a natural birth. ❤️
@Jalpa how did you find your induction? She said they may want to induce at 38 weeks
@Kinga of course, I’ll do whatever is needed to get him out safely. The one thing I really don’t want is a c section, it absolutely terrifies me. Thank you so much xxxx
@Kathrine oh wow that’s a good weight! Definitely would rather induction over c section. Just trying to keep the worries at bay I guess. Thank you so much 🥰
I'm the same I really don't want a c section only if it's absolutely necessary. And I've told them that from the start.. I'd talk to them and tell them you would prefer induction xxx
My growth scans put my baby girl on the 50th percentile. She was born at 40+6 weighing 9lb 9oz and on the 91st percentile 😅.
@Raeshan it was awful if I'm absolutely honest, I ended up having the sweep as I was only 3 cm after 48hrs, the contraction came hard and fast it didn't give my body any time to prepare, I would absolutely avoid it. The only reason I had it was because they put fear into my husband about still birth etc as my previous was so big and as this one was ivf he didn't want to take the risk.
Both my boys measured big (on the 95th and 97thpercentile)and they were 8lb 2 and 7lb 12! I was told the same thing so had mentally prepared myself both times for c section. Both natural deliveries.
@Rebecca my goodness!! I know it’s not an exact science at all and I’ve seen so many videos of them getting it wrong. It’s so hard to know what to do. I’m not shocked he’s measuring big as his dad was over 11lbs at birth. I can’t go by my weight as I was 2 months premature and only 3lbs 11oz. But I have a large dad and very tall siblings (I’m the shortest at 5ft8) and he had super long legs at my 20 week scan and huge looking feet. We shall see in 10 weeks time I guess 😅xx
@Jalpa thanks so much for the info and sorry to hear it wasn’t good for you at all! Well just have to see how it goes and if I have to be induced I have to be induced I guess x
@Raeshan yes if it has to be then it has to be. I know many mums who havr been fine I guess it jist depends. Wishing you all the best x

@Jalpa thank you so much xx
All the measurements they did on me was coming up as average and on the right amount of weeks. When I gave birth at 41 weeks I was shocked when she came out weighing 8lbs 9oz (I had a third degree tear and lost 1.7L of blood). All of this to say, the measurements are not accurate, specially if they are done by different people
I was told my baby was going to be over 10lbs and that his head and stomach was measuring big. They tried to convince me to have a section as they thought I would struggle to have him naturally and wanted to induce me. He was born 8lbs 7oz and I managed to go natural, I had to be induced in the end as I wasn’t dilating once my waters broke. His head and stomach were completely normal and was just a really long baby. Try not to panic about the measurements as they aren’t always right 🤍
Personal experience I've had induction due to pre eclampsia and he was 9lb13, my induction failed and I had a c section under general anesthetic, my second again I had complications different ones tho that time I had a planned csection I was offered induction again second time but I refused my planned csection was so much nicer and calmer I'm due my 3rd in April will be having another csection induction scared me more than the section the second time round, My boy was resuscitated for along time and then went to intensive care after I was induced, lots of people have fine inductions but then you hear alot of stories I belive if your body isn't ready then it won't go smooth but until the day you'll never know but also think about how big baby is measuring and if your petite etc if they advise that could cause complications then I'd definately sit and think about all options x
@Raeshan - it’s entirely your choice but I was induced at 41 weeks and it was the worst decision for me personally. I was admitted on the Wednesday evening, induction started early hours of Thursday morning and she was born Saturday evening. If your pregnancy is low risk, the NHS care you receive is minimal because they are so short staffed and if I hadn’t brought my own pain relief (TENS machine) I don’t know how I’d have coped. I didn’t sleep properly for 3 days and the discomfort and pain of labour by induction is much more intense - something I wasn’t told when being given my options but was confirmed by others in my NCT class as being true for them too. If you do choose induction and have a choice on timings, I suggest starting in the morning or the afternoon. I was started at 2am which meant I was followed up every day afterwards in the early hours of the morning and it made the whole experience worse for me as they were even shorter on staff overnight. Good luck!
@Dominique thank you so much for the info! Sounds like you had a hellish time bless you. Definitely something to think about
My first baby was a big baby he was born at 36 weeks weighing 7’1 although they said he had stopped growing so I never believe what they say😂 my second baby they where going to induce me at my next appointment scan at 37ish weeks although 2 days before at 37 weeks exact he was born at 8’4 (he was weighing 4 weeks ahead) x
@katie good weights on both wow! It’s so hard to know what to do because they get it wrong so much. My sister stopped growing at 34 weeks so they induced mum at 36 (another check and she hadn’t grown still) and she was 6lbs 11oz. We’re all tall besides my mum so I’m not shocked he’s measuring big in the slightest but the possibility of induction or C-section himself didn’t enter my mind. Super crazy bc before I got pregnant I always said oh I’ll just have a planned section cos I don’t wanna give birth 😂 now that it actually may be reality I’m terrified
I was always measuring around 60/70th percentile during my pregnancy but when LO finally arrived at 41+6 he was 9lbs 5oz which is 91st percentile I think!! Just to say the measurements are just a guide and not always accurate so do what feels right for you and your body!! I was induced but only because I was almost 2 weeks over due date, but it was a super positive experience and he was born vaginally with only gas and air! x
I had exactly this. I told them I understand the risks of what could happen but using BRAINS which I learnt in hypnobirthing id still like to go ahead with a water birth. The doctor walked out of the room on me, a few days later I spoke to the consulting midwife at the birthing suite who was more than happy for me to go ahead with my birthing plan. As long as you educate yourself, are aware it might not go to plan and know you plan B and C, and go into it with confidence and a positive mindset you will be okay
@Zoë that’s a great weight omg! Definitely I think because I’m such worrier I just get so overwhelmed. My pregnancy has been absolutely grim and I’ve been getting by with the thought of a water birth so to possibly not be able to have that makes me sad. At least I know now though it might be the case rather than having it sprung on me! I’ll just plod along and we’ll see how he’s measuring at my next appointment in a few weeks x
@Rachael I’ve got a hypnobirthing class tomorrow I’m so excited for it! So crazy that the doctor did that omg! But great the midwife let you go ahead bless you. I’ve always said since the beginning that I’m happy to go with whatever is best for baby and despite being a rigorous planner I know not everything can happen how I want. I think it’s just internally overcoming that now that it’s a real possibility x
@Raeshan you sound like me being a planner, but you’ve also got the right mindset to go with what is best for the baby ♥️ Hope you enjoy your hypnobirthing class, they are great. If you have time I recommend Siobhan Miller hypnobirthing book - it was a great read to understand everything and know what’s available x
@Rachael definitely! My husband is going away abroad for the weekend and I’ve run through his list of stuff 4 times before he walked out the door just now 😂 I have to prepare for everything. I’m about halfway through that book as we speak🥰 really insightful
@Raeshan 😆😆 sounds like you have it all under control. Always here if you wanna talk about what hospital say etc or any baby stuff. Wishing you the best of luck x

@Rachael he still came back twice because he forgot his trousers in the dryer and his asthma pump 😂 can see why he needs me haha! Thank you so much! I think it’s the hospital stay I’m worried about more than anything actually so will deffo take you up on that xx
Both my boys were measuring big 90th percentile+ and I had numerous growth scans with them predicting somewhere between 8.5 and 9.5lbs My first son was 6lb 14oz, second was 6lb 13oz so they were way out both times 😂
I believe my boy was on 97th percentile and came out at 9lb 13 - 4.445 kg at birth 🙈 was being induced however my cervix didn’t go past 5 cm 👀🙈 then went through a c-section because of his size and my cervix..
