My son got his in 2022! I was in the room and if my husband was there he could have gone in too - but that might depend on where you get the procedure! It took 10 minutes - he cried because he couldn’t move and bc of the numbing. After about 2 minutes he stopped crying. So quick! We used vaseline on his diaper so it wouldn’t stick while healing. It took about a week and half to scab off and he had absolutely no issues!
Yes and im scared. It's my first boy
I have 3 boys and am having my 4th. All my boys have been circumcised. My doctor did the ring, the nurses came in about a half hour before the procedure to put numbing cream on him and then came back and got him when it was time. They were gone for 10 minutes and came back sleeping every time. We didn’t have to put anything on it, just had to wait about a week for it to fall off on its own. We never had an issue and it never seemed to bother any of them.
No. I didn’t do it with my first. I won’t be doing it with this pregnancy/baby.
My doctor recommends to do whatever the father is so he can show him how to properly clean. And all that but my bf is circumcised…
@s a r a 🥀 can I ask why not?
@Kijahne my husband wasn’t circumcised and we just had a mutual feeling/agreement with it. I also fear about them being in pain/uncomfortable and on top of if it getting infected. I didn’t want to put him through all that.
My first is a boy and we had him circumcised. Our pediatrician said the window is a very quick one from birth- we had his procedure when he was like,I wanna say a week old🥺🩷 Dad went with him cause I couldn’t handle it emotionally. Apparently from what my hubs said, they (per his request- he’s an engineer, v curious about processes lol) allowed him to watch in a lil room with a window to see. Our boy way laid down, cried for a second, my hubs said his name, and he turned his head towards daddy and quieted. They did the procedure in, from what my hubs says, less than 15 mins. Very quick and precise. Then they bandaged him up, and he was home before I knew it! Those first couple of diaper changes afterwards for me though, I think I cried more than he did(he really didn’t. Just slept more and was a bit irritated day of). But, yeah, healing time for us I wanna say was like a week and his lil downstairs was looking better. Placing a big ol glob of Vaseline at that spot on his diapie
was a really big help with healing:) Overall, day of, my boy was only gone about an hour and a half to two hours (including drive time). Wasn’t bad at all but when you have your new baby it feels like forever.:/
Yes, we will be. I left the choice up to my husband. I have heard it's much easier for them to heal from when it's done at the hospital.
Yes our first born. Took like 10 ish mins? He only cried for a little during and then not again after. We just did Vaseline religiously everytime we changed his diaper for a week and he was all healed up within 7 days!
My first son is 2 now. We had him circumcised & I have no regrets. He was gone from the room for about 10-15mins & he was very calm when they brought him back. We put Vaseline on the gauze pads during every diaper change & it heeled completely in less than a week. We’ll be having it done with our 2nd son as well
We’re getting our baby circumcised about a week after birth- his pediatrician will do it since the birth center doesn’t offer it.
My husband & I mutually agreed not to put our 1st son thru this procedure. My husband is not circumcised. And we just felt encouraged not to put our newborn thru that trauma right after birth. It’s such a special moment & time to embrace skin to skin & stay as close as possible in the golden hour if there’s no other complications. Also, we’re very spiritual, but we believe circumcision to be an Old Testament practice that no longer represents covenant w/ God, per the New Testament/Jesus. So removing its origin, to us it is just a societal construct that ppl validate by saying “it’s cleaner”. My husband has never had issues or infections, so we feel it’s unnecessary. But that’s our belief/opinion. We’ll do the same w/ our next baby boy soon.

@Sarah Ours didn’t offer it either! I’m glad to hear others had to also wait and had the procedure run smoothly
Following, also having a boy
Our plan is to circumcise as well. I have no clue about after care. I believe is mainly putting lots of vaseline on it. Thankfully my mother in law will be around to help out, she had 3 boys, so she knows what she is doing, lol.
I’m against the idea morally. Circumcision is becoming less popular again because it serves no hygienic purpose (& the American Academy of Pediatrics no longer supports it) and the percentage of newborns circumcised in the United States has decreased by 37% since 1979.
My son will be 2 this month and we got him circumcised. I had his dad go with him. He said he cried for a minute but nothing too crazy. The doctor who did my sons put a wrap on it and said not to touch the wrap that it would fall off when healed. So all we did was put Vaseline on a gauze pad so it wouldn’t stick to the diaper. In an about a week and a half the wrapping fell off and it just had slight scabbing. I think the procedure took maybe 20 mins? I can’t remember exactly.
